What's wrong with comparing the two coming out of high school? That seems very fair to me.

Nothing. But some people here draw an arbitrary speculation line in the sand and expect others not to cross it.

He played at Palestine, a 3A school. I think it is safe to say he could have put up numbers anywhere though.

A lot of Bama fans talking up Henry as the next great back for them/us. He still needs to learn his blocking assignments.
Don't want our QB killed cause a freshman didn't pick up the blitzing LB'r.

I know Saban didn't try to sway LF just to piss off LSU fans. He saw something he liked.

It's the nature of fans to hope and believe their new recruit is gonna be the best ever.

I always felt if Bama could get the best linemen the running backs would shake out fine.

If Coker doesn't have an all sec year their gonna be some Bama fans jumping off a bridge.

It's fun to speculate, especially on kids that have the hype and play at a glory position, but give me Bamas 2012 O'line and most SEC backs would look good.

Cam Newton and Johny Football both played behind some very talented lines. A&M still didn't have the best running game.

And You guys should know better than most, a quality defense is almost mandatory if you want it all.

I really hope he's electric, but their is a reason the NFL pays so much for a left tackle or DE.

That's cool that their size and stats are similar, but it's totally meaningless. Neither the measurables nor the stats are rare. You can't measure the stuff it takes to make a truly great college and NFL back.

This shows both had outstanding high school careers that would be among the best that high school has ever produced.

Success at one level does not necessarily guarantee success at the next. That being said, any program like LSU has a roster year in and year out filled with players who were "among the best" at their respective high schools, BUT LF is among the best La has ever produced. He's about as "can't miss" as you can get. Still......show it at the next level LF. Tens of thousands think you can and are hoping you will.

One is a proven All-Pro, the other is a proven high school All-American. That's about all you can compare right now

No, you can compare that when both were coming out of high school, they were both high school All-American #1 recruit in the nations.

The comparison is appropriate. Why does anything Peterson went on to do have to come into the equation?

It's like when I say Anthony Davis was ahead of Tim Duncan after their freshman seasons. People gotta bring up the 4, now 5 rings, and all that, like Anthony Davis is the same age.

LF compares quite a bit with Adrian Peterson at the same stages of their playing careers. It remains to be seen what sorta freshman LF makes out to be.

Damn dude has not even played 1 down yet and the AP comparisons

This. Fournette is going to be damn good, but there is no reason for people to set such high expectations for the kid.

He'll do great things at LSU, but let's see how great before we start comparing him to the best RB in the league right now.

Leonard Fournette is so much better and has accomplished so much more than AD

Also intrigued was Peterson, the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player. Upon hearing about the Louisiana kid who was being favorably compared to him, Peterson sat down recently at the Vikings' training facility to watch YouTube videos of Fournette. The first word out of the Minnesota Vikings' All-Pro running back's mouth: "Wow."

"He's a taller back with a great combination of size, speed and power," Peterson said. "Has great vision; his feet follow his eyes very well. He's very impressive.

"If he keeps working hard, the sky is the limit for him."

Fournette later would learn Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning watched the Curtis game from his home and New Orleans Saints players were discussing his moves in the locker room the next day. ESPN billed the highlights from the game on "SportsCenter" with the headline: "The Next Adrian Peterson?"

what color do you think his suit will be for next year's heisman presentation? my money's on a blue checkerboard pattern. then, he'll probably wear a white tuxedo top to the draft, a mustard yellow suit for his nfl hall of fame induction speech (mustard yellow will be back in style then), and he'll close it out with a classic black suit for his funeral.

what're your guesses?

Much to early to speculate - it's run by committee as opposed to Peterson - will never get the carries P did - this staff is smarter than that Ok dummy

LF could be the best running back to ever play college but he's going to share snaps with other rbs with miles under the helm. It's the way miles likes to run his offense and I can't blame him

By sharing snaps you're most importantly keeping the mileage low for their nfl career and it helps younger backs get meaningful pt. I have no problem with it.

His stats at the end of his LSU career will may be very impressive but it won't be as good as most of you think.

LF
512 carries 5036 = 9.8 yds per carry

AP
5011 with 498 carries = 10.06 yds per carry

Conclusion:
AP > LF

During his freshman season at Oklahoma, Peterson broke several NCAA freshman rushing records, rushing for 1,925 yards and leading the nation in carries with 339.[6] In the first nine games of the season, he rushed for more than 100-yards, which is a freshman record.
