I'm sure this has been discussed many times here but due to the question marks at the position I think it would make for a good discussion. Who starts at LB next year? Most believe Beckwith will likely be gone after this season, and if he performs at the same level he did last year then that is a very real possibility. If he stays I'm not that concerned about it, but if he leaves then who replaces him? We do not currently have a true Mike LB waiting in the wings. Duke Riley and Donnie Alexander are OLB's. Can a true freshman actually start at MLB?Maybe by the end of the year but I don't see it happening at the beginning. Thoughts? Could hurt us next year.

Hard to really say what the incoming recruits will look like or who they'll even be, but I suspect Riley will be one OLB. The other two spots totally in air, regardless of experience

Riley, Feist, Alexander/Voorhies

^ he is talking about 2016, not 2015. Debo, LL, and most likely beckwith will be gone

I see. Wasn't sure if Feist was a junior or senior but I see he is a junior. I like Feist a lot and he looked good in spring as well. He could definitely be the starter at MLB. Add Riley and that makes 2. Is Deion a senior?

Considering some of the big fish they are pursuing, I almost guarantee you that we will have one, if not two, true freshman starting at linebacker next year.

If Devin White wants the position, he can have it. Plus, between Joyner, Divinity, Fowler, McCulloch, and Davis, someone could easily slide into that position.

Beckwith is the only prototypical MLB, in terms of stature, that we have had on roster in the past decade.

Don't forget Raashan Thornton. Kid is a stud and will probably be in the fold as well. Most said he was the most impressive commit at our summer camp working as LB. 6-3 225. Kid has potential out of this world. Just hard to picture a true freshman starting at LB for us. But you are probably right

Michael Patterson seems to be over looked. So you have Voories, Patterson, Fiest, Riley, and Alexander.

We need to look at moving Teuhema or Ducre to MLB. Ducre looks mean as hell and we have plenty of running back depth.

If Beckwith performs like he did last year he wouldn't get drafted even if he declared. He was horrible the first half of the year - so bad that they had to play DJ Welter, who no one thinks was up to that job. By the end of the year KB was fairly solid against the run but still a liability against the pass. And while he does very well plugging gaps against the run, he's not very good in space.

Fortunately he will probably improve.

I was referring to the end of the year. And he was a HUGE reason we led the conference in defense. He was definitely not horrible. The coaches were just reluctant to start him b/c Welter knew all of the assignments and had been there longer. They were hoping DJ could handled the job but he couldn't. The first game Beckwith started the defense improved tremendously and got better every game just as he did. If he plays like he did last year he will definitely be an NFL LBer. He is on everyone's watch list, and for a good reason. Take all that hatin somewhere else OR have better and more accurate info. He is a pure run stuffer and arguably one of the best in the conference and that's in the best conference in the country. He played great last year.

WTF are you talking about he barely even played and that was because he didn't grasp the whole playbook quickly enough
