4. New York Giants (5-8)
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
Is this too early for Daniels, even after his brilliant Heisman-winning 2023 season? Maybe, but teams will overdraft at quarterback in an effort to find the right player, and Daniels' dual-threat ability and vertical passing traits are very intriguing. His 50 total touchdowns this season make him a first-round candidate, but it's Daniels' improvement in the pocket and the best deep ball in college football that will truly turn heads come draft time.
The Giants are invested financially in Daniel Jones, but his play simply hasn't been good enough, and New York can move on via a trade. His 38.4 QBR ranks 25th in the NFL, and his season is over with a torn ACL. Daniels' 95.7, meanwhile, leads the FBS this season. And sure, undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito has been a fun story, leading the Giants to three straight wins. But his QBR on the season? It's even worse than Jones' -- 26.2.

8. Chicago Bears (5-8)
Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
The Bears have receiver DJ Moore and tight end Cole Kmet, but with Darnell Mooney struggling to develop into a consistent threat and set to hit free agency, they could stand to add more options -- especially if they are taking a rookie quarterback in Williams at No. 1. Nabers is the most explosive after-the-catch receiver in the draft -- he averages 6.8 yards after the catch per reception -- and I like to compare him to Stefon Diggs. You might wonder about a left tackle here, but I'm a believer in second-year player Braxton Jones, so Chicago would be wise to go receiver at No. 8.

26. Detroit Lions (9-4)
Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU
The Lions drafted a running back (Jahmyr Gibbs) and linebacker (Jack Campbell) in Round 1 back in April, but let's get them back to adding premium positions with early picks with a talented wide receiver. Thomas can play opposite Amon-Ra St. Brown as a 6-foot-4 red-zone target. He has 60 catches -- with15 scores -- while averaging 18 yards per reception this season, and he'd be a physical mismatch for Jared Goff and the offense

My dream of Jayden on the Saints is likely over, now I just hope he doesn't go to Tampa or Atlanta.

I hate to see talented players like JD languish in a shitty franchise. The luckiest players are guys like Mahomes or Roethlisberger. They went #10 and #11 respectively. Teams that draft in the teens are usually not broken. Teams that draft in the top 5 are almost always years away from winning.

The Giants need a lot of help at receiver as well

Nice troll on Neighbors, you moran!
I’ll say it again, Jayden is going 1st after he shows out at the combine.

Do people say JD5 because they’re unsure how to spell Jayden?

If he actually does the drills and absolutely kills it, he will undoubtedly kill in the team meetings.
I could see it.
Caleb Williams comes across as such a douchebag, I could see teams being turned off by him

Saints will take a small school pass rusher who lands on IR by late September

Tommy DeVito might have something to say about the Giants drafting a QB

The idea that Daniels was ever an NFL QB was always misguided at best, and delusional at worst.
But hey, at least his awesome athletic ability can get us out of a hole that his shitty passing put us in!
Goddamn

NFL scout Detillier predicted to a New Orleans
media outlet, that three quarterbacks will be taken with the first three picks, and Daniels will be among them, likely is the 2nd pick but also could go first.

TD Thread from September discussing JD5's draftability
There is gold in that thread. I can't wait to see how many posts in there get edited soon.

I definitely think he is going top 5. I can see top 3. Will be interesting if the bears have two top 5 picks what they decide to do

He's not going to show anything at the combine the film doesn't already show. Everyone knows he can run. He has 5 years of film showing his passing ability. He's not a guy who will be getting drafted based upon rare physical traits despite little positive film (like Richardson).
The question will come down to what do the teams in the market for a QB want? Williams is seen as the most polished QB and has had a pretty steady performance for 3 seasons. Maye has the ideal physical traits NFL teams want. And you can bet those ideal physical traits will be even more emphasized now with the struggles of Bryce Young, a guy seen as a very undersized prospect.
Williams and Maye will probably be looked at as the "safer", more traditional prospects. When you are picking a QB at the top GMs are often afraid to take a risk. Daniels is not as much a "traditional" prospect. But he's probably the guy with the most potential because of his ability as a runner. It will take the team picking at the top to say "There's our Lamar Jackson." If so, Daniels very well may go number 1. If not, he'll be the 2nd or 3rd QB taken.
Nonetheless, my hope for Daniels is that he goes to the team that is best for HIM...not to a bad situation as the No. 1 pick. I'm sure in 2017 if you asked Patrick Mahomes he would have said he was a little disappointed he wasn't the first QB taken. But I bet if you asked him now he would say he so thankful he was taken by KC instead of Chicago, or Cleveland, or the Jets...even though it had to be with the 10th pick.

He could still be on the board and the Saints will draft a DE. They suck at drafting.
