Mason Taylor and Demario Tolan too.

And we haven't seen some of the shiny toys from that class yet either like Walker Howard and Quency Wiggins.

From listening to Kelly, this is what they have been trying to figure out regarding Perkins’ playing time

1. He doesn’t know the plays/calls for ILB

2. Therefore putting him on the field means they have to take out BJ

I would assume they are going to rotate Perkins, BJ and I guess Ali going forward

Not sure if Ali is same position so others can clarify

Regardless, if it is just Perkins and BJ rotating, them staying fresh all game is a good thing IMO

But yes I would rather find an additional way to have Perkins on field for nearly all plays

No doubt about it 40 is super special. Everyone needs to chill out about having him on the field every play. That’s dumb. He doesn’t know the playbook. That’s a huge liability that DOES offset his skill set. BK knows way better than any of us how and when he should be on the field. Challenge yourself to consider why BK wouldn’t do something that YOU believe is in the team’s best interest. Either you are wrong, or he is wrong. He’s being paid $10M a year for his understanding of what is right and wrong regarding a program. Trust in BK.

Will we see more of him? Yep. He will continue to be better prepared as time goes. In obvious blitzing situations he is on the field a good bit now.

Future is beyond bright. Generational talent. There is a proper way and an improper way to bring someone like him along in development. BK knows what he is doing. What more do you need to see to trust his decision making?

Kelly playing 4D. Perkins didn't play as much as we'd like because he'd have taken Darts head off at some point and gotten ejected and had to miss half of the Bama game,

Sure he was, but you still need to learn your playbook. I'm sure Taylor knew his playbook, Perkins doesn't.

You can't stop guys like Harold Perkins. You have to scheme them out of the game or double team them. Either way you are handicapping your offense to stop one player. Which is a great for a defense. Games are 11 on 11, if you can make it 11 on 10 or make their offense play around a player it becomes easier and more predictable to stop.

I watched a play were Perkins shot the A gap, and tackled a RB from behind on an outside hand off who had 4 steps on him for only a 1 yd gain. The kid took the wrong gap, had to turn the corner, and still caught a RB from behind for only a gain of 1.

Jesus, just move Gay to DT and let Perkins play DE. He should not be off the field except to rest a bit. Kelly needs to suck it up and order House to do this.

When Perkins steps on the field for his limited time you can be assured the opposing coaches will take notice. Can only imagine when he will be in there fulltime the damage he will cause.Perkins needs a crash course in the next 2 weeks. We will need him bigtime against bama.

Somebody better step the frick up and make this kid a NIL deal he can't refuse and get him locked up in P&G the next two years. You can bet he's got people quietly in his or his family's ear about the money he could make at another school.

Hey "geniuses on TigerDroppings". Why would CBK deliberate with the OC about inserting #40 on D?

In this case, yes. TigerDroppings posters easily called for Perkins to play more

Posters also called for a million other stupid things too. shite eventually sticks.

Perkins can cover because Perkins can run. He hasn’t been in coverage much.

Lawrence Taylor was not bright either and yet he was the most dominant defensive player of his generation, maybe all time.
He also barely played defense as a freshman.

Kelly is being evasive. He is trying not to bring attention to 40. That's the same as him talking about Boutte. He wants teams to scheme around Boutte who really hadn't done a thing this year.

It's not really a mystery. He's a true freshman changing positions. It's a lot harder to coach him on what to look out for on the field during this particular game when he's on the field, and you don't want to have him make too many mistakes because he'll get the yips. It makes a ton of sense to not have him on the field for the first drive where things are the most exotic/weird and for him to periodically sit out drives to review what's going on.
