so Mainieri should bench those two in fall ball? Or he should have predicted the hottest hitter on the team would fall into a slump the last 3 weeks of the season?

Were you watching their ABs? Was Paul? You'd think Zardon could have at least PH for one of them at some point...

yes, i watched their at bats. so Mainieri should have benched Chinea and/or Hale in Omaha because he should have known they'd not show up?

He should have done something at some point... that's his job isn't it?

well given the team's performance, who, outside bregman, lange, and scivicque, earned their way to stay in the lineup in Omaha? you're just cherry picking players for whatever reason. krob was just flat out not as good as the players we started this year. he's young, and he'll have every opportunity to start next season if he's good enough

Fraley, Foster, and Sciambra had some good days. Laird too. Stevenson didn't look great, but you can't take him off the field. I would normally say the same for Hale, but even his defense was lacking.

I trusted that Mainieri would pick the right batting order for the last TCU game. He let me down. He wasn't able to replicate his genius moves against CSF.

He did well in summer ball last season.. It still didn't translate. Hope it does

I only wanted to point out that he wasn't exactly doing anything less than what was expected of him based on what he did the year before
i think the idea was for him to get better from his FR to Soph season. I had hope, but he really didn't improve much.
i dont think you go in expecting him to hit in the low .200's again.

I'm still trying to figure what you are saying here, el.
Are you saying that because Hale and Chinea were both struggling badly, that both of them should have been replaced, with one of them being replaced by Robertson? Are we just supposed to forget the fact that those two were crucial in LSU getting there? I'm guessing Bregman should've been pulled after his almost hitless regional and super.
In fact, I see no reason why Brad Cresse should've been batting in the 9th inning for the 2000 championship either. He was pathetic the entire CWS that year.

How do you get anything done in the day with K-Rob's dick stuffed down your throat?

I'm being argumentative for the sake of it really. I can admit that.
My point had to do with what PM does with those who struggle.
Zardon struggles a little and he's benched for 4 weeks and doesn't even make a trip. He gets spot duty, is successful, still not given a consistent shot to start.
Chinea struggles a lot (offensively and defensively) and he doesn't miss a game. It works out eventually... once PM finally moves him out of the cleanup spot, and he becomes our best, hottest hitter. He struggles mightily again, and we ride him out with no change.
Kramer struggles early and gets no more chances. Granted, he might have gotten more had he not hurt his elbow, but it certainly didn't look like he was ever going to replace Foster regardless of his defensive struggles.
But to be specific about the CWS... you play as if there is no tomorrow. Bregman was hitting, just nothing was falling. Hale and Chi looked completely and utterly lost. Hardly any good contact. Zardon had 1 plate appearance and he came through with a sac fly.
Cresse was just getting pitched to well. His approach didn't change and he didn't look any different than he always did. There was also no one to hit for him.

It's as small as he is, so it's not as difficult as you'd think...

He was possibly the most automatic-out in the modern LSU baseball history.
But, if it helps him having a chip on his shoulder, I'm all for it.

2nd Base play was not the reason LSU went 1-2 in CWS. Robertson is a below average hitter and until he proves otherwise can be useful late in the game on defense.
