He's tied with Milam for the 4th best OBP%...or 3rd if you don't want to count Kucherak who leads the team but isn't a starter and only has 5 ABs

And he's 3rd on the team in RBIs, more than Tommy White

Stevie eventually learned how to hit. So I hope Kling follows in his footsteps.

Stevenson's trajectory is legit one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. He really went from an automatic out to our best hitter. And yes, Kling doesn't have the approach at the plate to make a significant change. He isn't going to get pitches in the SEC to break this if his approach doesn't change.

He never goes with pitches.

Kling is the only head scratcher I have from Jay at the plate. I really don't understand why they haven't made a total change. He looks like he's going to be a liability again in SEC play. It's really the same thing as last year. It's weird because it's an outlier.

I don't think Jay is a person to play favorites. If Kling becomes an automatic out in SEC play, I think they will move Jake Brown to CF.

I'm referring to his ability to tweak hitters to maximize their success at the plate. He's probably the best in the country at this, and the seemingly lack of change to Kling is what stands out as an outlier.

We're retards, and we are seeing it. I know he does

Well that’s just not true. He’s 8th if you are counting the whole team, 5th if you are counting only regular starters. He’s also batting .235. Having 9 HBP doesn’t make you a good hitter. He can definitely be a good hitter, but right now he’s not.

Can’t lead the team in k’s and remain leadoff. Milam has elite bat skills that Kiling just doesn’t have.

Eventually... as in was a freshman and then got better?

Stevenson in his second year was hitting 0.435 heading into SEC play. And this was the dead ball, dead bat era.

Kling as a sophomore is hitting 200 points lower at 0.235 heading in to SEC play. Add in that Kling strikes out at double the rate of Stevenson (29.2 vs 14.6).

I think he's more comparable to Jared Foster than Andrew Stevenson, especially at the plate.

His two-strike swings are way too big

Kling is solid defensively. And I'm never surprised to see a C, SS, & CF that struggle at the plate, b/c they are serving the team defensively. I do scratch my head to see Kling lead off. I think Jay sees the potential in Kling and that's the only reason I see him still batting where he is.

And he only swings when he has 2 strikes. I get being patient, especially as a leadoff, but he looks like he's expecting a ball and reacting to a strike. Instead of the "yes, yes, no" approach, he is "no, no, oh crap"

And yet this board is all over Milam's nuts, and constantly hates on Kling constantly.

Milam has played great, so I'm not knocking him, but the Kling hatred is very much unwarranted.

Kling is just gonna have to work through it.

His defense is too good and his upside is too high for him to sit

Move him down to the 9 hole if necessary, but he aint coming out

Lol what? Look at the website. He's tied with Milam at .471 OBP (4th on the team) and hitting .255 not .235

That's not updated to include last night's game. He's at 0.446 OBP after last night's 0-4 (3K) performance.
