why coaches wear those when it's hot.

Those two years when super regionals existed and they had top 8 seeds?
By the way, in 2001 (the second of his two years) LSU wasn't a national seed and had to play Tulane at Zephyr. In 2000, Skip's team went undefeated in the SEC Tournament. All in all, doesn't really support your point.

He has worn it almost every game this year. It was simple question and not just about him.

In '99 LSU hosted but wasn't even the top seed in its regional. It took two wins on the last day to beat East Carolina and then we got kill crushed by some team from can'treadsville.

We wear Russell again? Nope that is not from this year. He started when we got nike uniforms.

99 was a hell of a regional

No kidding. The good ole days, where David could have a better season than Goliath and still get sent to Goliath's house for a regional.
Reminds me of this I AM GOLIATH!

The exact opposite of when Smoke's teams used to peak

Those BP tops get really warm too. Creature of habit I suppose. Makes a coach stand out a little and many of them have pockets which are useful

They battled rain delays and ended up beating the shite out of ECU in the winner take all game pushed back to Monday. On Sunday LSU was saved with a late comeback.

Thanks, all I was asking. Standing out part makes sense.

It was nice having those huge rosters back then. Looks strange these days.

Plus, we could buy a regional. You can not do that today.

Yeah, I still see people saying that the NCAA wants LSU to host because of money, but that just doesn't seem to be one of their factors anymore.
So, other than Poche, who is the pitcher that steps up? One of the hallmarks of Skip's old teams "peaking" was the emergence of a pitcher at the end of the season who had been mediocre before, usually a senior. Think McCune is that guy this year?
FWIW, as long as they stay in the winner's bracket, they can go a long way with Nola, Poche and Broussard. If the offense continues to click, this could be the scariest team in the country going into the tournament.
