Hard to disagree with what he says. It is a sad state of affairs when your athletic department has to bail out the academic institution that it stands for.

i agree. he's correct. but i still love LSU football and always will. sure the guys a snob but louisiana has always really disappointed me with it's lack of emphasis on education. you have to blame that on a large segment of the people. they are ignorant and actually don't know it. i love louisiana and my LSU degree helped me make some pretty big bucks. but i'm afraid the per cent of the population that gives a damn is less thn 50.

Not sure any accurate stats are available on precisely the demographics of the LSU Football fan base. But I for one, along with a ton of friends are Proud LSU alumni with degrees that helped enable outstanding "white collar" careers, and care deeply for both the atheletic and academic success of the university. The financial alignment that exist is a positive thing, and in my mind athletic success does not degrade our ability to have acedimic success. I have never comprehended this logic.

Oh dear God...just saw his link. This is the kind of guy that everyone avoids at a cocktail party, lest you be trapped in the corner having to discuss 18th century liturature with him while he sips ever so slowly on his chardonnay...

I have an MD...not that it is a big deal, but the point being is that I and a huge majority of my colleagues are big college football fans. It is entertainment, dumbass! I like art, music, and beer as well. Snobs like this get a huge hard on when asked for an opinion in a major publication like this.

they

don't

matter.

There is a strange correlation of shitty public education systems and the popularity of college football. I love college football myself and am in SC. Our public school system blows...bama? Mississippi? Georgia?

There really isn't any correlation you're just trying to find one. Look no farther than Texas to make your statement completely retarded.

NE guy. Wouldn't expect him to understand CFB. What he needs to understand is his lectures and papers on English Enlightenment aren't bringing millions to the university.

Not trying to stir anything up, but dont a lot of people go to non public schools here? Better yet, the people that can afford season tickets prob dont send their kids to public school.

I dont see how education has anything to do with it. Dont teams like the giants and pats sell out their games? So does that mean people in NY and NE are uneducated? Or does this only pertain to cfb?

Personally im a huge braves fan and the tickets are pretty cheap to attend that event. Now compare that to going to see a game at Fenway. The tickets there prob triple the price. Are Bostonians uneducated cus they pay a higher price than everyone else in the country to go watch a boring arse baseball game?

Please name one state that doesn't turn out plenty of folks for saturday or sunday games? Right now, if im not mistaken, our football team gives the academic side tons of money. Im sure even the states who dont have pro and a large college fanbase still have 60+ come out on saturdays to enjoy boise state or wyoming play. To say this is just a Louisiana thing is pure upper level butthurt. He sound bitter.

Welp some of us couldn't afford LSU or college in general wes be havin to go out and find jobs after high skool. I went into the navy but we never held it against yall college types. We needed you college edukated officers to show us how they did it in skool. 95 percent of the time it was wrong and time consuming but we didn't think yall were, lets see how you labeled us uneducated non college folk " they are ignorant and actually don't know it." Ah but we did have fun with yall.

This dude needs to give it a rest. The school makes tons of money off these kids and let's face it, it's a 2-3 year job interview for most of them and people need to come to grips with that. You can always go back to school after you play. you normally don't get more than one shot at a few years in a professional sport.

i have no sympathy at all. i worked my way thru LSU. worked 12 hr's a day in the oilfieds in the summer and cooked donuts and pastries at the LSU bakery during the year. lived in the goddam stadium for awhile (the ghetto).

you obviously don't have enough intelligence to correctly intrepret my post. i didn't say anything bad about non college educated people. what i said was many louisianians DON'T VALUE EDUCATION. i mean K-12 even. they won't pay the taxes to pay the teachers to have better schools and it show in the economic sector. way too many, myself included, college educated have to leave the state for the best jobs. it's sad and it's damn sad that you make fun of the truth and then misinterpret my statements and twist it around. the truth hurts. you pretty much have to go to private or parochial school in la. to get a decent education whether you go to college or not.

so after you graduate are you supposed to hang out with left wing commie professors and blow them...

Yes, give a few bucks to the school, to TAF and what..

So sick of idiots saying we are don't care about LSU besides sports. We vote for moron politicians on both sides of the aisle and expect the 247,865 colleges in LA to change for the better.

Are we supposed to roll up outside a classroom and boo the retards who teach English literature?

Tenured teachers suck Bama balls and are more lazy than the Urban workforce...

This guy had baseball season tickets for years and sat directly behind me. He talked to himself as well as made some of the strangest noises I've ever heard. He used to say over and over "you can't hit if you don't swing" to himself.
He clearly had/has mental issues

If you dont think there is a correlation between the popularity of college football per capita and the shitty quality of public school systems then you are either willfully ignorant , or to use your description, retarded.
Look no further than the south. I live in a state with a joke of k-12 system and college football is incredibly popular. If you live in the south you probably do too.
You use texas as a argument, where do you suppose they rank in public school test scores???

Top5...what teacher at LSU is one of the 5 best in their field?

Miles is one of the 5 best in his and he gets paid for it. Look at other fields...finance, banking, real estate, business, oil, engineering, etc. I am willing to bet football coaches are in the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to elite level of their field.

Top 5 bankers make well into the 100's of millions per year for sure.
