They probably will be out. Someone will take their place but a lot of the candidates didn't play today.

One at-large spot disappeared Friday when Sam Houston State was bounced out of the Southland Conference tournament with a 4-1 loss to Northwestern State. At No. 38 in the RPI, with a regular-season title under their belts and a 7-5 record against the top 50, the Bearkats should be safe for an at-large spot, making the Southland a two-bid league.
Thinking back to 2011 and us getting left completely out of the field with an RPI of 23...how in the frick does THIS happen?

Wasn't it an rpi of 26 in 2011 and UCLA hosted with an RPI in the 30's, but yea definetely.
Still upsets my stomach to think about it.

Bias against Louisiana having two national seeds.

So because Cal Poly hasn't played anyone this year, they get to host and possibly get a top 8 with this logic
quote:
Cal Poly’s resume lacks star power, but if ULL is in the mix for a national seed, so should the Mustangs.

Maybe, but what he mentions elsewhere but omits in the argument for the 8th national seed is that the SEC has the #1 conference SOS. If the ACC gets 2 national seeds as the #2 conference, then the SEC should also get two, which means that it should be a 2 horse race between Ole Miss and LSU, not Miami. LSU took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss on the road, they have a higher RPI and they're playing their best ball at the end of the season. Ole Miss won the SEC West, but if LSU wins out in Hoover, I think winning the SEC tournament trumps being a division winner.
But after 2011, WTF does logic have to do with anything for the selection committee. That's why the new football format scares the shite out of me.

Don't forget that we had a rain-out and a tie due to travel which probably prevented us from winning the SECW.

Excellent point in that aspect.
After looking at the schedules for OM and LSU, the 2nd half SEC stumble / stagnation of LSU occurred with the TAMU and Bama series while OM jumped ahead riding their sweep of Kentucky momentum to the end.
OM hasn't done anything more than LSU since, other than win the West, which I think is almost moot this year with the logjam of teams heading into the SEC tournament.
What sucks is not knowing what the committee will decide to hang their hat on if LSU does win the SECT. Is a regular season West champion valued more than a SECT champion when both resumes are almost even? Is the 2nd SEC national seed bid given to another conference if OM is denied?

I stand corrected, the ACC is the 3rd strongest behind the SEC and the Big 12.
