Ken Adams and Brockers replacements?

What does our DL depth look like for 2012 and beyond.
I know we have Sam M, Mingo, and Ego Ferguson.... but who else is projected to start and who are their backups that give us depth?

Freak Johnson at DT
Quentin Thomas could be a RSfreshman to keep an eye on in the next couple years.

With year under his belt, Freak might surpass Brokers.
DE will be a combination of Mingo, Edwards, Rasco.

Bennie Logan will start at DT with Freak I would guess manning the other DT spot. Obviously, Sonic Sam starts at DE. Mingo will see lots of playing time but might not start since he is more of a pass-rushing specialist. Lavar Edwards I would imagine will get the start even if Mingo ends up playing more downs.

with Mingo in on all pass-rushing downs

uh, no. We'll be weaker at starting DTs, but might be a little deeper. Should be significantly better at DE, though. Nothing against Adams, but the improvements of Montgomery, Mingo, and Rasco should more than make up for his absense. And Lavar Edwards will provide great depth if he doesn't start. Not sure how much Maclin or Allen will contribute. I guess a lot will depend on spring practice.

What is the deal with Downs? He played a lot his true frosh year? Then didn't make much noise last year. Was he hurt last year, if so I would think he should be pretty dominant next year as a Jr if he is healthy and his problem was health last year

Downs is gonna be a sr. he's always seemed to be nicked up, and no more than a rotation player at best. he's made 9, 10, and 9 tackles over his 3 yrs.

He's been nicked up and he is a little undersized.

Holy crap, I can't believe Downs is a sr. Seems like yesterday I remember him tearing it up at the HS All-America Game.
Come to think of it, thats the game where Loston got flagged for popping RS (his cousin) on a late hit out of bounds. Shep is a Sr, I should have known that.

Downs will be a senior this upcoming season and he was hurt through out the year, it seems he can not stay healthy.
