that was in response to a question regarding restaurants to go to friday. sorry if the post is hard to follow, but there have been 12798 topics on this exact question the last few weeks, and they always get knocked down off page 1

Well, you have never hung around me and 205 before. Calhouns has it coming.

With all due respect sir, Calhouns has been the LSU hangout for games played in Knoxville for a long time.

I'm sure the places you're referring to are awesome, but I was just thinking in terms of the best place to go while being around the most tiger fans.

and new places are built all the time, especiallly since the last time lsu was in knoxville in 2006. i mean honestly, it's not like lsu has even played in knoxville that many times ever, so i don't know how you can say it's been the case forever. in the last 20 years, lsu has played there three times, in 2001 and 2006 and 1993 before that. god forbid the landscape of the city has changed in that time period. tin roof for example is HUGE and always has tons of away fans at it before games. it's on the strip and wasn't built until a couple years ago

Nah but seriously man, I'm sure it has changed, but most Tiger fans will stick with what they know.

Hey man, I welcome your input.

It's always good to give people options. Knoxville is a great place, and you obviously know a lot of good places.

But the chances that people stay at 1 of those places the whole morning ain't gonna happen!
Why can't they hit up multiple places?

But anyway, I'm not arguing with you bro. The thread wasn't intended to be a Calhoun's endorsement...It was just to help people out with where to go/what to do/where to tailgate.

Can someone recommend a good Friday night Knoxville dinner spot that does not require reservations? Would Calhoun's be a good Friday night dinner spot, or is it more a gameday drinks destingation? Price is not an issue for Friday dinner - staying downtown and would prefer something nearby if possible. Would the Downtown Grill & Brewrey be a good spot for Friday dinner? Thanks.

yes but it may too crowded. Calhouns is more gameday drinks than food. Chesapeakes is a hidden gem downtown

Ill be at the credit union across from BWW, there are several places to tailgate around campus you just cant go all out like at LSU. If you dont want to buy drinks all day just find a parking lot, bring a cooler and chairs and hang out. Cumberland has plenty of options to barhop and grab a bite to eat before the game. Prob not alot of options to set up tents and do a lot of cooking but there are places to hang out.

for the most part, yes. i recommend keeping it in a cup just to be safe. the worst that can happen, though, is a campus PO asking you to pour it out. it's technically a dry campus, but usually a blind eye is turned on game day

it's a dry campus but if you put it in a cup, the campus police won't bother you. tailgating on campus is sparse but it's walking distance to bars. police there aren't like ole miss, they won't hassel you if you're not falling down drunk

I'd be careful about walking around the stadium with beer.

In 2006 Me and a buddy were walking to our gate and I had a beer in my hand. Cop told me to throw it away, so I walked over to the trash can and tried to down it before I threw it away. Cop came running over yelling at me and frisked me and threatened to take me to jail...So yeah...avoid having beer around the stadium.

Got any suggestions as far as good areas to park for the game? Also, about how much time should I expect to give for finding a spot to park? I hear traffic in and out is really bad. We're not too concerned about being as close to the stadium as possible or the price.....we would just like to try to avoid the most congested areas.

Calhouns is really the best spot except for the one bringing rv's and such, plenty to eat and drink both inside and outside, plus it's not a long walk to the stadium and there's plenty of parking across the street....

Also there is a Ruth's Chris right down river from Calhouns where you can park for free, they have some good deals on gamedays there...
