gameday reps are valuable

Didn't he start football in 9th grade? So only 3-4 years of "football" experience? Amazing that he is as good as he is.

He will get much better with valuable game reps but needs to be put in the situations as much as AJ. BH has the exceptional leadership quality and will develop. Ive watched him those 4 years in high school and he improved dramatically once given those opportunities.

How do you know this? I mean it might, but experience didn't get rid of JJ's confusion when the play was called in.

There's no 100% guarantee that he'll ever grasp the playbook. Time and reps may or may not do it for him.

I see you are back BRAVEHEART. Pushing the same program I see. It won't take long, when that hatred and prejudice takes over again, you'll be banded under this alter as well. Have fun while it lasts.

Have you ever heard Harris speak? He's black and plays qb. Other than that he's nothing like Jefferson. Some of you morons are terrible.

No one should be surprised a true freshman isnt running the offense perfectly in games 1-3. A HUGE reason why he never had a real chance to start the season.

Like I mentioned I've seen him progress through his 4 years of organized high school football. From a freshman who never picked up a ball before to the #1 QB in the state his senior year taking his team on his shoulders through 4 road playoff victories to the Dome. He is a true leader by nature. Once he grasps this playbook watch out SEC!

This. If he'd have been in earlier against ULM I would have been worried about him getting broken in half.

That's not necessarily true. Look at what Rivers is doing with those "situations" against bad competition. Miles and Cameron are going to get Harris enough reps to keep develop him slowly and keep him sharp in case he's actually needed. He's not going to start this season, barring an injury or a total meltdown by Jennings.

His best shot will be to put on some lbs. and try to beat Jennings out for next season. He's shown flashes of great talent this year, but he's also shown that he's not ready for the starting job. Also, Jennings showed that he's no slouch throwing the ball or running it.

It's an unacceptable situation to have only 2 scholarship QB's on the roster in year 10 of the Miles regime.

At the start of spring we had;

RS Senior Bolden
RS Junior Rivers
Sophomore Jennings
RS Freshman Rettig
True Freshman Harris

All on scholarship. Sorry, not Miles fault if three QBs wanted to jump ship.

Add to that, 3 star walk on Bergeron left, and Jared Foster is out for the year with a broken foot/ankle.

It was just a bad year all around for LSU QBs.

However the people who think Harris needs to start should pay more attention to the positives and negatives of both QBs. We're better off with Jennings than most think.

I laugh at these people. I see them in different comment sections on different sites just as dumb as they were born. If we have to start Harris on the road against Auburn and UF, we are fricked! Dude is too nervous and jittery even at home. Quiet all this shite about him possibly starting until next year.

So we're now comparing one of the best defenses in college football in the BCS to ULM? We are comparing Stud play calling, to Cam? We are comparing a revenge title game to the 3rd game of the year, against ULM?

There was a lot of standing around waiting on the call, shoulder shrugging, looking to the sideline for almost every play, mostly by Jennings because he played more. And in a pre-SEC tune-up game SlowFlowPro had an excellent post about the missed opportunities to run more plays out the shotgun 3 WR set, putting the HB in motion for 4 WR, but only one of the QBs has shown a good touch on the screens and short passes, and it is Harris. It was an opportunity to run some package set plays, and to generate some pace and rhythm with consecutive completions, etc.

Miles has continued to tout the abilities of both QBs and said to an SEC reporter that Harris wins 10 of 10 head to head competitions in practice and he feels he needs more game time to take advantage of the extra skills that he brings. Harris is not just a Game Manager. He has played well in his limited minutes and Miles must be totally committed to bring him along because dual-threat QBs get injured. He has just said he has total confidence in both and will not hesitate to pull AJ if he gets wild. AJ had one of his major deer in the headlights moments, an "Ole-Miss-Mett moment" when he was flushed out of the pocket by 2 ULM rushers and threw wildly not into double coverage but into 4-man coverage: INT. You are picking fly shite out of pepper to rag on Harris and give AJ no criticism for his screens, focusing on one receiver (Mett at Ole Miss), and fumbling the exchange to LF.
That major focus one receiver has become a critical refrain in the media, and Dural will not be covered by SHSU munchkins in the SEC.

As we have only 2 QBs and since dual-threat QBs are more prone to injury, we better hope they are on equal footing. Gus Malzahn echoes the sentiments of every other FBS Div-I school by saying "You can never have enough QBs, every thing on offense begins and ends with them." The other SEC schools avg 5-7 QBs on the roster with a good mix of experienced and Freshmen talent. The JUCO ranks have provided Auburn with Cam Newton and Nick Marshall and LSU with Mett: all worked out well.

Startling Fact: Zero = the number of LSU quarterbacks ranked on the SEC's all-time list of the top 21 QBs with the best winning percentage as starters. Alabama, Florida,
Georgia and Tennessee account for 19 of the QBs.

LSU has notoriously under recruited for the QB spot and hopefully Cam Cameron is going to change that and we finish the season SEC champs, NC champs or at least ranked high enough to attract premium QBs. A progressive offense is the second best recruiting tool to winning. Dual-threat QBs are going to go play for spread option teams and teams that will get them to the NFL. It is a proven fact that a spread option offense is a recruiting tool with HUNH addiing an extra advantage. Cam knows them, is implementing the plays, and not only are they predominating High School Championships, they are in the premier ACC, SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, and Big 10 schools. They are also all over the NFL from the Seahawks implementing Malzahn's plays, to the Saints running 5 WR sets to spread the field.

AJ Throwing into quadruple coverage to close 1st half vs ULM

SEC 2013: LSU vs Ole Miss: Mett throws 3 consecutive endzone INTs to start game by locking on Beckham 3 times in a row. Ole Miss defenders, bigger, high flying, bury Beckham the same way TD Travin will be covered without a short game, spread field, and better utilization of RBs and FBs all within the same play to get Dural and Diarse in man-on-man instead of double or quadruple coverage. Please, no deja vu.

Harris needs to gain 20 lbs, Yeah, Right

Harris to Dupre: Excellent 1 sec drop back and back shoulder Fade

Harris practices fades to Dupre: Dupre makes one handed leaping catches

After 8 games the starter got injured and the 2nd QB had to play. He was ready with 16-20 series experience
How many series do you think Harris has played so far in only THREE games? At the current pace, he'll have more than 16-20 by the 8th game.

Also, he threw the ball against Sam Houston State a good bit, including a TD pass to Dupre. That was a perfect game for him to get a few series with the playbook open, and the staff did it.

Anyone still calling for Harris needs to do what the OP did and re-watch the games. The OP is simply pointing out a fact that Harris, on multiple occasions thus far, has been lost on the field not knowing what play was called.

He's clearly athletically gifted and will see the field more once he learns the playbook, but I don't see how anyone can reasonably complain about his PT so far after 3 games with him playing in every one. Even when we were losing against Wiscy, he got a shot.
