I disagree.

Negatigers who want us to lose right now to get the coach fired are, although misguided, at least putting the interests of the program/school first. Their logic is that a couple or few losses now will lead to more success in the future and thus will be better for the program in the long run. As I said, they're misguided, but at least, in their own logical framework, they are hoping for what they think is best for the program.


Positigers who hope we fail if we fire the coach (and there are a ton of them who have posted on this site over the years) are actually rooting against the interests of the program out of loyalty to one man. What possible benefit could the program derive from going into the tank after firing a coach? There is absolutely no possible reason to want the program to go down after a coach is fired, except out of anger and a desire to see the program/school punished.

Thus, while both sets of "fans" are misguided and wrong, since EVERY fan should ALWAYS want the team to win no matter what the circumstances, at least the ones who would trade a few losses now for what they think will be better times ahead THINK they are rooting for what's best for the program, while the others are simply rooting for the program to be punished because they don't like how it treated a man who holds more of their loyalty than the school/program does. The latter are worse, and yes, you are right about one thing...

I am not going to do your research for you. If you have never read a post on this board from someone saying they hope LSU goes downhill if Miles is fired, then you simply don't read the board.

The variations are usually

--I hope Miles wins a title and then tells LSU to frick off, leaves for [insert other school] and LSU goes back to 1990s level losing, and THEN those negatigers will know that they were wrong and I was right

--If Miles is fired, I hope/think the next coach will take us back down to Hallman/Archer levels so the fanbase will realize how good they have it now

or other slightly varying words of similar import.

Also, an EXTREMELY slight variant of this sentiment that barely stops short of actively hoping for failure but certainly implies that hope is the "we will never find anyone better, LSU will be back in the dumpster if we get rid of him" line of reasoning.

Agreed, though I think a non-playoff alliance bowl (or whatever they're called nowadays) is sufficient if we're at least competitive in all our games.
