I don't think it was bad...I understand the warning, but I do kinda see how it goes without saying.

Unfortunately a few people on here have made many of you LSU fans look at App differently than you should. Every school has them.

Look, I don't post on the Rant often...

I will say this. It's a fair warning to any visiting school.

BTW, its usually students who are a bit too fired up for their team.

That said, thousands of our fellow citizens died during Katrina and hundreds of thousands continue to suffer the aftermath of the storm.

Just don't mention Katrina, its bad form and will not be looked upon the same as football trash talk.

This warning is not meant to reflect poorly on the App. State fanbase. It simply needed to be said and seventeen days out is the proper time to say it.

I spent about 4 weeks with the ARC in BR after Katrina. I saw many a sad situation and heard some heartbreaking stories. I don't see how any person could make a jab or a joke out of that.
In what little free time I had, I meet some fine folks and enjoyed the BR area. I'm jacked about getting to come back. Has the city's population gone down. I know the city had almost doubled after the storm. It was hard to get anywhere while I was there.

The Bama fans are the worst about bringing up Katrina. Looter State University, etc.

What the heck is your problem?

They never said any of us had brought up Katrina here. Some of the App fans on this board are delusional fans and that's exactly what they were talkin about. You need to chill out.

Most of our fans would never do that because they realize how big of a disaster it was. If they do, we don't claim them. We may be arses when it comes to our football team, but we don't do stuff like that.

AS for jumping on the eye, I don't think you would have to worry about that either. Coach Moore would never let anything like that happen. He wants nothing but class from his football team. If a player doesn't show class, heaven help them.

Don't worry, even though we've been called toothless, cousin mating, stupid, backwoods hillbillies, whose student body raised a boatload of money for Katrina victims we would never be so classless as to make fun of such a tragic event. I would suggest anyone tha does on this website gets banned...Tha't ain't smack talking, just mean spirited.

I think it is okay in this situation. Although 3 years removed from losing my house, everything I owned and priceless personal mementos...it is still a bit of a bristle when someone "pokes fun." I could've killed some of the schmucks at Ole Miss last year. On the other hand, I never once heard anyone say anything derogatory at a home game. Probably a good mixture of courtesy and common sense helped keep some yaps shut.

I think this has a lot to do with the Chicago Bears fans from two years ago.

They were as classless as you can be. I remember the one Bear fan asked a NO fan, "Did you lose your house in the storm?". WHen the NO fan said, "yeah, 9 feet of water".. CHI fan says,"I wish you would've drowned!"

That's bullshite and not out of the realm for any fan to say.

Nobody is sayin App st. fans are going to do this, but getting out there, may be a good thing.

I will say that another Ole Miss fan told a schmuck that he deserved to have his arse kicked and they noone would help if any LSU fans decided to do it.

It's all good, we get called the same, except we're rednecks and coonasses instead of hillbillys

I'm not the one that's going to get in a fight.

it's some hot head LSU fan that hears a katrina joke from the north carolina guy.

seen it happen a couple times over the years with other schools.

But here is a warning:

If you bring up Hurricane Katrina in mockery, that will not sit well with most LSU fans.

That would be the quickest way to get beat up on gameday.

Just a word to the wise.

That goes for ALL visiting fans coming to BR, not just ASU fans........

To the App. State Posters in this thread and Fans:
Thanks for what your school and students did in '05. I wasn't aware of that.
Class personified.
FWIW I don't think this "warning" was necessary.
Maybe for some other schools' fans we play, but not ASU fans.
Why? Because the Carolinas have had their share of bad hurricanes in recent years, I am positive they know the score; plus I haven't seen any Katrina crap on here.
A few "internet tough guys," no matter what school or team they root for - is NOT a reliable representative sample on which to judge an entire fan base --
With one exception: Bears fans.
I was in Chicago in Jan. of '07, and it went waaaaay beyond the few insults posted on this thread - from every one I encountered. I could not believe how evil they were.
They made the Taliban look good.
