Ouch. I thought we coached them up about interviews and what's off limits.

No wonder he has traveled around from school to school. Team player.

Geez, is this kid gonna be a cancer?

If alll the bouncing around he's done is an indicator, it doesn't bode well.

Those of you that never saw Chris Jackson play, just want to tell you that he was one of the quickest ever to play.

This kid is very similar in that aspect. It just seems like he is being held back. I don't know what goes on between his ears or what the coaches want him to do?
I just know that he has the quickness of Chris Jackson.
He is not there as a shooter but driving to the basket is very similar.

I agree with you. I saw Chris Jackson play while he was at LSU. Sometimes when you have a talent like Gray you have to turn them loose every and just allow them to play. Gray can do anything he wants to do on the court. No one can stay in front of him. Gray is the only player we have that has the potential to take over and control the game offensively.

JJ needs to take the handcuffs off of him and allow him to do his thing and create some offense for the team. I'd rather see him penetrate score or dish when the double team comes versus seeing Martin jack up 3's like he's a 2 guard.

He seems genuinely frustrated. It doesn't look like he's trying to be an agitator. I hope he and they improve.

I agree. I don't see anything wrong with what he said. Some people tend to read more into what was said.

Exactly...hes frustrated at losing games and knows his ability and knows he could be doing more from a scoring standpoint to help the team win.

But it shows his unselfishness that despite him knowing he could score much more hes still willing to do what the coaches ask.

He probably shouldn't say it in a interview, but I can't blame him. Like others have said this guys does remind me a bit of Chris Jackson in his quickness. However that seems to be limited in games. JJ did the same thing with Hickey. In Hickey's first year he was a playmaker under TJ he attacked the basket and lane often. He was a different player under Jones. This group can't shoot worth a shite from deep, but they can score inside. IMO their best offense would be to let Gray create shots for himself and others

Gray definitely has to be more aggressive and score more for this team to succeed. If the coaches can't see that..we are in trouble. Now if Elbert was a legit post scoring threat, like JOB , then it's a different story.

They also need to press off of made shots as much as possible. This team was meant to run..not play half court.

I agree, though this year's team IMHO is not as good a pressing team as Jones's first two, it still looks CJJ can coach this better than any other defensive aspect, so play to your strength.

As for Gray, the 6 teams in 6 years thing has to make you go hmmm, no matter what the circumstance, but I do expect him to show better than he has to this point. He has to or this will be another disappointing year.

You are right, he is as quick as Jackson but the biggest difference between the two is that Jackson was a finisher. I have watched Gray go in the lane out of control and throw up ducks or throw it away. He has missed many of layups and hell the kid can't shoot free-throws, esp at crunch time!!

"I have a solution but my opinion doesn't matter."

Wow...where are all the sunshine pumping JJ fans to tell us where he is wrong.

Chris Jackson was:
Faster
A much much much better shooter
Better vertical leap
A better passer

Gray is a point guard with very good control. He has above average speed. He has a poor jump shot. He is not tall and athletic enough to score inside against good D-1 teams. That is all right now. If he develops a jump shot he will be very good for us.

That was the worst part of it. He is clearly disgruntled. I hope that was just a really really bad interview for him and he isn't always a malcontent like that.

The feeling like a "robot" comment gets me to believing he doesn't like running an offense. I guess we are wasting money on Musselman than.

I was hoping Musselman would make a difference in the half court game. Hopefully he still will.
