I don't know how I feel about that toss up.

JJ just needs some good coaching.

He has the tools to win, just still raw at times.

He needs to pull the trigger faster, and more often, that's for sure.

If you really want to compare JJ's stats to other QB's, try looking at what other QB's that are freshmen or sophomores did at other programs this year. Comparing him to JR at the same point in his LSU career does not portend to anything.

Of the top 100 there are 15 freshmen and sophomores who were better than JJ this year in the NCAA and 13 worse. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out that JJ is mediocre, at best.

flynn?

we're talking about "smart" qb's right?

do smart qb's throw a lot of int's?

or are you just making up shite again?

how do you explain that?

He can't and he won't. The reason people think Flynn was "smart" and Jefferson isn't is because...well...you know why.

So you're suggesting LSU is going without an SEC or BCS title for the next two yrs, like they did with JR?

Well, Russell only played one year after 2005, not two. And I'm not suggesting anything, just trying to provide some stats for discussion. But, using your logic, if Jefferson plays well enough next year to be the first quarterback taken in the NFL draft we would probably all be pretty happy.

But IMHO, he will neve lead LSU to a SECCG. If he does, my hat is off to him.

why you say that, he's only a sophmore and has 2 more years of coaching ahead of him...i think next year, and for the bowl game for that matter we'll see a different JJ

Wow. Amazing how our ideas of what an ideal offense should do changes from year to year.

Flynn knew how to step up in the pocket. Flynn wouldn't have taken the sacks the Jefferson took. Flynn also could check his receivers 10x faster. Anyone who says Jefferson is smarter than Flynn is either brain dead or just ignorant

Doc you must be black and very insecure when it comes to your intelligence. I didn't know this was a thread about which QB was smarter but as usual that's what it always turns into with you. You were saying how good it was JJ only threw 6 picks. The only thing you fail to understand is that is not the only criteria for a good quarterback. How many sacks did he take? Who threw for more yards and touchdowns? That was the point I was trying to make.

adorable

He had better stats in the ones you want to count. Jefferson had a better completion %, more yards/attempt, better QB rating, etc. Which includes two games against two top 5 defenses in the country.

The stats are either equal or the 5th year senior has a VERY slight edge over the true sophomore. Kinda hard to put up similar stats that quickly when you're apparently not as "smart" as the other guy.

Depends on the new OC (if any)

Pro style offense, the new OC may prefer Garrett, if he has a grasp of reading the defenses.

For those using INT's as a measure of how good a QB is, forget it. The same things that limit JJ from throwing INT's are the same thing that limits the offense. Plus, JJ has had a lot of int's dropped this year.

JJ is an average QB, with above average skills, who in the right offense with the right coach could possibly lead a team to an SEC title.

Flynn looks like Matt Damon
Who played a math genius in 'Good Will Hunting'
Math genius is smart!

Euphemisms
- QB is smart (white)
- QB is athletic (black)
