Spoke to Harold Boudreaux today, by the way super nice guy, and he loves the hire.

There were once so may awesome "people" who played for LSU. They are still the heart of our program as I remember it.

You have absolutely nothing to base this remark off of.

Ive already stated my basis for it in previous posts. Which have echoed what 95% of what the realistic and true Tiger fans here are saying.

You are an ignoramus that thinks it makes you more of a Tiger fan than I am if you act happy with anybody who is coach, while I and the majority of others here don't like the hire based on his far-less-than-stellar resume, and based on LSU allowing Dale's bbq get-togethers to dictate the hire. You are a classic case of the phrase "ignorance is bliss".

I like the personalities of most of our ex-Tigers too, but I don't think it serves LSU well to hire "average" guys because they feel entitled.

This is LSU. Since when has our philosophy changed to not expecting the very best. We are supposed to wake up in the morning pissing excellence here.

It's great that Johnny Jones really loves LSU. That's good. However, if having a lot of passion for LSU is what made coaches good, there are thousands of regular Joe LSU fans that would've been better hires.

I'm pissed at Joe "Dean" Alleva...

NOT Johnny Jones. I hope Jones re-does Dale's best years. 2 Final Fours, another Elite 8, etc. LSU basketball should be on the national map.

90% IMO, the other 10% are "it could be worse".

Defeatist mentality. But can't argue with it. No win situation.

No matter what side of the ball you fall on IMHO it's time to get behind Jones and hope that he does very well for LSU. The end game we all seek is that LSU is an elite program in all sports. Bullet is the coach. Let's hope that he is the key to getting to that level in Mens Basketball.

I don't think anyone is literally hoping he fails. We are all Tigers here.

It's just the disappointment of the last week and this whole process that has left a bad taste in just about everyone's mouth. We could've and should've insisted on a homerun hire. We settled.

eta: that and the cronyism apparently involved with dale brown and company.

This.

Let me think... win and be wrong, lose and be right. I'll take win and be wrong each and every time.

Doesn't excuse what has happened here from Joe Dean Alleva.

I saw the different posts about interviews with the high profile coaches. Did it ever come out that they turned us down?

It's a double edged sword for Alleva. A) He wants to go after the high profiles but B) that gets the fan base (including me) over excited thinking we're getting John Wooden. Then it's a let down when we find out it's Jones not Shaka. I'm betting they all turned LSU down and Alleva was left with some moderate type hires given the program's shape. Out of the moderate type hires Jones has a one up because he's "family." Just my opinion of course.

One thing for sure about Johnny being hired - it makes it easier to identify the true Tiger fans on this site.

Non-fans = F tards still pissing and moaning about why JJ shouldn't be hired and who should have.

True fans = Congratulations Johnny, we'll see you en masse at the PMAC.

As a fan who have been to more basketball games than football games this is an underwhelming hire.

Sorry if that pisses you off.

It's a fricking terrible hire. It was a move to save money. We aren't going to compete with Kentucky. It's a joke of a hire! Your telling me coach k couldn't recommend a better replacement? Since when did we start poaching north Texas mean green coaches? Lsu basketball will stay mediocre that's all there is too it. If your excited about this hire after we were taking to Jamie Dixon at Pitt? Your an idiot. Terrible hire

South Carolina looks for a coach and they get kstates coach!

Jones supporters are ignorant I spoke to one yesterday ! They seem to think Louisiana is just loaded with bball talent and if we keep them home we will win.

HOGWASH

Go look at rivals since 05 not one player in the top 25 from Louisiana

Furthermore no other school showed interest in him the whole time he was at NT not one

Since 05 Jones did not land one player in the top 150 at NT not one!

All the ignorant people supporting jones think Louisiana is so rich with talent don't know what they are talking about!

Jones is the most unpopular hire in the schools history. And the worst part he'll be given 4 years to build a program the great coaches can build in 1-2 year.

im willing to give jones a chance but some people are trying to spin this and make it look way better than it is. this is a huge risk of a hire and really isn't that exciting of a move. Also the way it went down looks shady as shite with daddy dale and the gang running things

I am on board with JJ.
Let's not forget, Brady and Trent looked good on paper, yet they both failed.

There are some things that do not show up on paper and will help him win.
i.e. History and Love for LSU.
This is the time and man for everyone to support, if for no other reason, he is one of ours.

He was a very good Xs and Os man with Dale and now has 10 more years of experience.
