He has played on a Final 4 Team for Dale Brown, been an assistant coach for Brown, and now he's been the Head Coach. He's an LSU Legend.

...and if he truly loved LSU the way someone who had been there to see as much as he had should, he'd resign and save LSU the trouble of having to publicly fire him for his total failure to create a consistent, successful Basketball Program at LSU.

He's embarrassed the institution he loved while embarrassing himself.

It's time. For everyone involved.

He was the reason we fell the first time and Brown was forced out. So he's embarrassed the university TWICE.

No sane person would voluntarily walk away from that much money. It's on Alleva to make the change, not Jones.

Which of you who actually have jobs and have not met your responsibilities have voluntarily walked away?

It will be up to Alleva.

Exactly. He's not some noble statesman. He's a fricking basketball coach that makes over a million dollars a year with a pretty nice buyout. He's not stepping down.

Johnny is not going to resign and he'll get to finish the season. Alleva better come up with the cash to get a real coach.

As for LSU Royalty, Johnny from DeRidder was considered a big get at the time he was signed by LSU. He was our answer to missing out on Rocket Rod Foster who signed with UCLA. Johnny's playing career at LSU was him never being able to shoot and playing out of control most of the time. He wasn't good at all. His poor coaching resembles his poor playing.

Dale Brown had whiffed a few years earlier on getting the real stud from DeRidder when John Rudd went to McNeese. Rudd was an awesome player. Thank goodness after this season, we'll no longer have Johnny & crew (Dale & Collis) involved in LSU basketball decisions.

That's not true. It's well documented that Lester Earl was coaxed into lying to the NCAA because the NCAA had a vendetta against Dale Brown. Lester has since apologized to Dale Brown, Johnny Jones and LSU fans.

Listen, Johnny needs to go but there is no point in posting stupid bullshite that isn't true.

JJ was lead recruiter on Lester Earl. JJ was on the final four team but couldn't play his way out of a paper bag. Rudd was the stud. Throw money at Pitino or hire a high school coach Sick and tired of the damn buddy system around here with Collis temple.

I've known a few people who felt they weren't hair away from getting fired who decided to quit so they would not have that on their working record.

But they didn't have a million dollar buyout in which JJ would be a moron to walk away from that unless I could still get the admin to agree to pay it for me to step down early.

I hope you are right, but where does your confidence stem from that Brown and temple won't have their hands all over the next hire?????????

You people are retarded. Everyone was saying the same thing with Les. No coach is just going to resign like that because they're having a terrible season like this

I don't see the point of making a change during the season.

LOL. I love LSU as much as the next guy but leaving UL for LSU in basketball is the equivalent of leaving LSU for UL in football

going to say it ... what kind of grit do our fans have when we fire coaches with .500 and 9-7 records for the season... sometimes you have to play it out and see what happens. if you can't handle losing you shouldn't be competing.
