The Bobby Petrino of college basketball?
If we're not going to stoop so low as to hire low character guys to coach football, why bring in dirtbags to coach basketball?

As a player...too much speed that was not in control. And not a great passer either. Loves LSU, I'm sure

That's my memory of him as well....fairly highly recruited but never lived up to the billing.
was fast but I can remember cringing every time he would lead a fast break almost expecting the turnover because he was so out of control.
His best game I can remember was probably his last when we lost in the first round of the NIT at home to either UNO or Tulane (we lost to both in back to back years) he probably hit more jumpers in that game then any in his career, finished with like 20 points. Was a below average shooter for sure.
Don't remember him being exceptional at defense either despite his speed and quickness, though that should not be surprising.

My favorite part about the state of Louisiana right now is that whenever they show the AD at the game, its because he's playing Trump to see if he can fire somebody.
As if to say, why else would he be at an LSU game. The online 'fans' are almost as bad if not worse. Most have never even played high school basketball, or any organized basketball in general, and are more interested in firing somebody than watching sports. It's a mob mentality.

What I cannot for the life of me figure out is how, in 1994, LSU all of a sudden became a losing program under Dale. Superstar absentia or not, 1994 was a shock to live through with a very injured cast of incoming superstars and Lenear Burns as the veteran. By Dale's last year, he had one of the worst teams in NCAA history -- and for a BIG Conference program, I exaggerate not.
Whatever the Lester Earl situation was, it was a fail on both parties, He sure as frick did not become the next James Worthy or whomever he planned on being. The NCAA and Dale were a very volatile cocktail mix. Who knows what happened?
All this and much more left unsaid, it is time for Johnny to depart. Minus his HC gig at LSU, he truly was a GREAT LSU representative. I have met JJ on 2 occasions as early as 1987 and he was IN this program when Ron Abernathy, Craig Carse, ET AL were not quite sold. He managed players very well and was a complimentary figure to Dale. The time is NOW (not at the end of the season) to go ahead and let Johnny go. He will become a great assistant at a place like McNeese or even a school like Houston. BUT, his head-coaching days are over, unless he goes somewhere like a Delta State.

Randy Livingston blew out his knee playing AAU before the season started

Johnny Jones is LSU Royalty... by AndrewDgoing to say it ... what kind of grit do our fans have when we fire coaches with .500 and 9-7 records for the season... sometimes you have to play it out and see what happens. if you can't handle losing you shouldn't be competing.
You don't have to wait it out to see how this trainwreck will end. Just wait unitl we get to play the heavyweights in the SEC. Wait it out my arse.

So true. Only player that I remember that was even more out of control than Jones was Tack Minor.
