[link=(That's a real thing, podnuh. If you can't look at Sampson and Blakeney and say "those dudes are making freshman mistakes" then you just don't know shite. Analysts and coaches ALWAYS talk about experience, leadership, veterans. People want to use all the one and dones from UK and Duke as examples. We have 1 one and done and he's amazing. Blakeney and Sampson are Freshmen. TQ is just a tad better now than he was as a Freshman...so did youth play no part? Martin as a Sophomore>>Freshman..what's that reasoning? I don't understand why everyone acts like being a Freshman doesn't matter at all)]LINK[/link]

go tell that to Kentucky fricktard - they start 5 freshman every damn year and usually win it all

I am a long time basketball fan. I have followed closely since my early childhood. Jones has gotten recruits, but wins matter more than recruiting rankings. Jones is the anti-Johnson that the boosters and Daddy Dale's crew forced down our throat. JJ can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag with a fully automatic weapon. He needs to go.

Coach K, Calipari and Roy Williams respectfully disagree.

I'll be critical of JJ's offense and refusing to move Simmons to the post, but I'm not sure what you want him to do with Blakeney
Put him on the bench. He was invisible outside of his poor shooting last night over 37 minutes. TQ and Hornsby gave you more than enough guard play.

So we have the best player in basketball plus a first rounder and we are getting beat by non tourney teams....dude...please...I know you are connected to JJ...that's obvious....but he has sucked as a coach since he arrived...and long before. His arse is toast

I've posted in 4 different threads today stating the opposite. I don't care if this got bumped and people who are going off. 90% of these people don't even watch or care about the games. After the North Florida game, I thought we made key tactical adjustments...last night showed me we did not. Look at 4 other threads about the basketball team today, then come talk to me. It's hilarious because most don't even realize this thread is from a week and a half ago.

I can assure you, CJJ has no idea who I am. I am a very very big supporter of LSU basketball. I saw dark dark days with Brady and Trent. I appreciate CJJ for what he is. The problem is what he is not. Most people do embellish how bad our team is because we've lost 2 games in regulation and 2 in OT. We are 4 points away from being 7-1. Reality is we are not, and it is because of our defensive philosophy.

But mind you, CJJ got the talent here. He is sucking with the talent, but he got them here. Brady got lucky with a sick Louisiana class, and Trent was gift wrapped a team. People are upset because we put lofty expectations on this team and they are poorly coached. But the fact of the matter is we haven't done much differently than other coaches that have been here

True, but he could coach.

While I agree being young is an excuse for not winning, especially in college basketball. Young teams win and are competitive all the time now. Having said that, Kentucky has only won 1 title in past 17 years.

Meh, he could coach defense. Our offense was solely dependent on if we had a big man with post moves. But he was a great defensive coach. Basketball was also different back then and you were allowed to be much more physical.
He preached on ball physicality. He hasn't exactly been lighting it up at Arky State

No doubt. But it's tough to recall Brady losses due to coaching decisions.

What I do remember is sitting behind the bench, listening to him curse his players and wondering why anyone would want to play for him.

A very insightful post. Coach and player bashing are just indicative of the majority of LSU fans. I've come to accept it. I am guessing the majority of posters are young and probably know very little history about LSU sports. For me, high expectations began with the Baseball National Championships under Bertman. When Saban was hired, it finally happened with Football. Basketball took a huge hit after the Lester Earl fiasco because Brown built it up and LSU was virtually a tourney lock for over a decade. Brady just couldn't win the fan base over no matter what he did. The MBB program has been on a rebound since. I don't follow women's sports closely but the Final Four WBB appearances were impressive. (Softball, Gymnastics, etc. as well) My point is that a lot of LSU fans now have extremely high expectations. If you're not playing for a minimum of a conference championship with a chance at a national championship, it's viewed as unsuccessful and directly relates to the coaching. I think there is no one reason or cause for success or failure (W's and L's). There are always multiple factors. But, the buck has to stop somewhere. Someone ultimately has to be held responsible. Opinions vary on who that someone is.
