Agree with a lot that you said. I saw a lot of adjustments out there this last game both from the previous game and then at halftime. I'm sure he didn't do it because I posted it but he put Simmons down low on the block and he had a field day against smaller opponents. If we had done that previously and excecuted it as well as we did last night then we would be undefeated right now.

But in CJJ's defense, Ben has always played on the perimeter even in high school when he had an even greater height advantage. The difference is that in high school he was able to penetrate and drive with much greater effect and could pass over defenders that were 6 or 7 inches smaller.

Even then he was mostly passing the ball and not much of a scorer. Last night showed that he can be a very effective shooter if it is moves around the basket. His game is not to stay on the perimeter and bomb three's or even drive and shoot a pull up jumper. Nope, in a half court set he is what he is. A very tall, agile big man who is quick, can jump and has great moves.

Last night I even saw them post him, him pass back out and then repost. If we can play in and out like that as we did with Johnny O'Bryant, along with some decent outside shooting and running the break every chance we get, our offense will be fine.

It's hilarious. People compare one and dones to every single Freshman. We have 1 guy who is a one and done right now. UK has 3-4, Duke has a couple. here are starting lineups:

Michigan State 3 seniors, 2 sophs
Louisville 2 seniors, 3 sophs
Duke 2 seniors, 1 JR, 1 soph, 1 Fr
Gonzaga 3 seniors, 1 Soph, 1 Fr
Kansas 2 seniors 2 JR's 1 Soph
Iowa State 4 seniors 1 JR
Maryland 2 seniors 1 JR 1 Soph 1 Fr
UNC 2 seniors 1 JR 2 soph
Nova 2 seniors 2 Jr 1 Fr
Virginia 2 seniors 2 soph 1 Fr

Finally, UK: 1 senior 4 Freshman...and 3 Juniors off the bench.

Up until last night, we started 2 Freshman, 1 Junior, 2 sophomores. The proof with youth is right in front of you, but yet it's still disregarded. Also, from the above, those are only top 25 teams, and all but Louisville are top 15 teams.

Clearly you're an idiot.

It's called sarcasm, because TQ is being talked about as a 1st round draft pick, but people around here wanted to cut him after his Freshman year

Look y'all I just read this quote by a fella who has coached before, and from what he has seen, and what it appears to me the man who made this quote is correct in his assessment of JJ. Hell I thought the guy sucked as a basketball player while at LSU. Never in control.

To paraphrase Bobby Knight re a close, down to the wire game: " I was worried till I looked down at the other bench & saw Johnny Jones sitting there." How many OT & 1-2 point games has JJ lost in the last season & a half....5 at least.

Thank you Johnny for making LSU basketball relevant again

Results? Lsu hasn't been relevant since some of the Brady runs. Making the tournament every few years and bowing out in the 1st rd is the opposite of relevant. I was excited to see Jones come back home but it's starting to become clear why he was stranded at UNT for so long and it wasn't because he was holding out for Lsu.

I had high hopes for this team and there is still a chance for them to do something. However, the math is starting to work against them

That's a real thing, podnuh. If you can't look at Sampson and Blakeney and say "those dudes are making freshman mistakes"

"One and done" or at the most, two-and-gone is the new norm in college basketball, at least for perennial tourney teams.

If "those dudes are making freshman mistakes," then JJ needs to coach them up damn quick, or recruit freshmen who don't make those mistakes. Other teams a lot worse than Kentucky and Duke do that routinely.

JJ has one shot to make sugar out of what so far has been a shite show. We are losing from this team:

Simmons
Hornsby
Gray
Quarterman
Blakeney
Sampson (likely)

Next year will be starting over. Then I guess your JJ excuse is, "Oh, he's rebuilding." You have your head stuck in the sand--you post like you think these guys will be here four years.

I'm amazed you don't see how tired, feeble, and just plain dumbass stupid the "we're young" excuse sounds for a college basketball team.

It's dumb as hell to use for Les and football and even dumber and stupider to use for JJ and basketball.

I'll be critical of JJ's offense and refusing to move Simmons to the post, but I'm not sure what you want him to do with Blakeney

He can't throw the ball in the ocean right now. That's not coaching, he's missing open looks

At this point, Blakeney and Sampson are likely staying. If they arent, it means we've turned everything around

I have never see such a lack of fire by a coach. The players give such a lack of effort, and Johnny just sits and watches like nothing is going. This is one of the most athletic teams in the NCAA and the worst defensively. All attributed to lack of effort. He has to demand more from his players, or put someone out there who actually cares about defense.

I think they're gone because the NBA drafts on athleticism, physical tools, and upside, which both these long and athletic guys have in abundance. Sure, Blakeney is throwing up bricks, but that will change. He's still a natural shooter.

I assure you, NBA scouts aren't repelled from these guys' potential just because they are in JJ's shite-show offense.

Neither are sniffing any mock draft boards right now, not even second round. They have a long way to go to be considered for the draft.

At this point they'll both be back unless they want to go play in the D-League or Europe.

Prior to this season I would have been inclined to agree with you that Blakeney would be here for just one season. But what have you seen from him thus far that makes you think an NBA scout would give the green light on him?

quote:

Sampson (likely)

I think he has a much higher ceiling than Blakeney, but Sampson was never going to be a one-and-done.

Why does everyone point out that we have 3 true freshman starting? This isn't CFB, it's CBB. Freshman start for almost every team. Look at Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and many others. They all have freshman, and none as good as Ben Simmons.

That's an LSU staple. Miles stares and looks confused, Jones blankly stares, and Manieri rings his hands and looks like he's about to cry.

I mean, a Muschamp freak out isnt good either, but shite, at least go off every once and a while. These are kids. Sometimes they need their asses kicked, figuratively speaking.
