Past few seasons it seemed like the only thing keeping us from winning it all was a true Sunday starter. This is what the winning formula looks like in the post season.

I can't remember the last time I felt this comfortable with our Sunday starter. Crazy how he's our 3rd best pitcher with a sub 2.00 ERA.
Thank you Akron for discontinuing your baseball program and thank you John Valek for shutting our opponent down Sunday after Sunday.

He has walked one batter and hit two in 22 2/3 innings.

I was a little concerned about him at first, but the guy has found his groove and is everything weve wanted in a Sunday starter.

Guy reminds me a bit of Lane Mestepey. Great find by Dunn.

How good was Akron supposed to be this year? The big guy that pitched Friday for Ball St. was on the team too.

I'm not sure, but Marnon (sp?) had a great game Friday night. Valek is the better of the two by far, but I believe Marnon is only a sophomore.

Is this where we vote for him to start Fridays?

He is a redshirt jr. so him a Valek went to Akron in the same class.

He (Marnon) was a transfer to Akron last season. He was on the squad but had to sit out last season at Akron per NCAA rules. Then Akron killed their baseball program so he transferred to Ball St. without sitting out another season.

Valek has to feel like he's won the lottery...

Last year he was pitching before a couple of hundred fans.

This year he is a starting pitcher, playing before 7,000 - 10,000 for an elite college program.
