I'm sorry. I know the guy bleeds P&G and plays his heart out for LSU, but the results just haven't been there. He makes a lot of tackles 5+ yards downfield. Hopefully the 10 pounds make a big difference.

For some reason, reading that reminded of all the talk we heard about JJ coming out of spring and summer practices.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong.

going back and watching some DVR'd games, welter gets everyone lined up, then gets completely LOST during the play... he was just REALLY slow diagnosing where the ball was or where it was going.

This is the result 3 years later of wanting Lee to play over Jefferson.
EVERY white player huh?

I never made it about race, you people do.
Look in the mirror next time you start throwing out racists accusations you fricking douchebag.

First thing I thought of as well. Really have high hopes for the young man in question, hope he plays a lot better this year, and the defense with him.

Every white player? What are there, 10 on the team? If it's because he wanted Lee over JJ then I guess I am a huge racist too.

Me too. Its just mob mentality BS from a lot of posters on here and TLee was probably a bit more vocal in his opinions.

As far as 31 goes this should be great news to any tiger fan. I like it!

I wanted Lee over JJ also, but you are a racist fricking piece of shite
Let's not pretend that's the only reason everyone knows you're a racist, it's any white player and you get all butthurt and go over the top in defending them
Kind of how you've done in this thread with welter now, new white guy, same racism from tigerlee

That's exactly what I would expect Chavis to say about any of his players. Player has lots of upside while knowing his performance is continually being evaluated.

i went back in a few dvr'ed games last year bc i thought keeping him in was insanity. and what you said is deadly accurate.

i guess they thought he was too valuable pre-play and worth it to basically play 11 on 10.

Wisconsin game will tell all. If Beckwith shows out and Welter is mediocre, then there will be a role reversal.

it just became laughable as the season progressed. I found myself keying in just on him and watched team after team attack his spot every game. he got abused often, and was not a playmaker. at all. he couldn't shed block and was hardly ever around the ball. he was involved in a bunch of gang tackles but only had like 25 solo tackles for the YEAR. as a MLB that is not great at all...

I fear that Welter is one of those guys that is an all-star in practice, not so much in games. Every team has it's "practice Pete".

I watched a lot of games on replay too. It seems that he was exactly where the coaches wanted him in the first half of the season, playing in a matchup zone over the middle. At the end of the season it looks like he was free'd up to make more plays and he did.
