re: Joe Burrow... "We're going to have to show everything. Georgia Southern is too Good"

I realize it wasn’t exactly the same and some wrinkles are thrown in but for the most part it was the same conservative offense. This was especially true in the red zone. Our red zone offense was terrible and I can’t wait to see a difference in that department. We will be able to tell against George Southern how much this offense has changed.

Truth or lie or whatever. Why would you not say this? There is no downside to saying we will show everything.

I think we will come out firing, as BHP said every game, a new (or different) game-plan should be used according to the opponents strengths and weaknesses...adding or taking out packages etc. I do think/hope we run it wide open tho, blow em out and give the steers something to think about...show them everything, they have to prepare for everything...cmon! It was the Citadel you're thinking who was tied at the half last year with Alabama.
Georgia Southern did rack up over 300 yards rushing against Alabama in 2011, though. But only had 40 yards passing.

You’re absolutely correct. I was getting the facts crossed a bit. Although there was a recent game between Alabama and Georgia State or G. Southern where the Georgia State/Southern team put up some eye catching stats for a while. Point being, and especially given LSUs history of letting some of these teams hang around (and lady year was no exception) don’t think this is a practice game! Should be; probably will be; be almost as certain as this time of year has suspensions swirling about, equally as certain is that somewhere along the line, a lesser opponent will push us to the brink or worse. He’ll, it just to permeate all 3 major programs: FB; BB; and,Baseball.

Again, I believe you're thinking of that 2011 game with Geo. Southern. 300 yards rushing vs that Alabama defense certainly was "eye-catching" at the time.
I agree with your main point about not taking this team lightly. They can run the ball. That said, one of the benefits of losing to Troy, was that it was a lesson learned - LSU can lose to anyone if they put their mind to it. I have the feeling the players will be focused for the first game of the year- even if they are a little sloppy at first. It won't be from over-looking Geo. Southern.

You realize people say stuff to compliment thier opponent, right?
No way we use the whole playbook vs GA southern.

When has "hiding the playbook" ever worked out for us.
frick that noise.
I hope we play wide open every game and blow some frickers out this season.
If you execute to your best they shouldn’t be able to stop it...

I think fans like us get caught up sometimes with what specific plays you run and whether or not you "show the playbook" against an opponent like this. In reality, the coaching staff is going to focus on getting better as LSU regardless of the opponent. Sure, if they see something on tape they can exploit, they'll scheme a bit to that, but mostly they want to see the players come out and execute the concepts, routes, protections, etc. that they've been teaching and see how well the team can execute those things regardless of the names on the opponents' jerseys.
Week one, just focus on LSU and do what we do with a high degree of excellence. After the game, go to the film and find the things that need to improve. Work on those and then go be LSU against Texas. Rinse and repeat. Do that and we should be undefeated going into Alabama. Do it well enough there, and we're looking at a freaking legendary season.
Realistically, we'll probably lose a game this year. Maybe two. Who knows? What I do know is that those losses will likely have very little to do with how much of the playbook we show from week to week and very much to do with the level of individual excellence each player on the field can achieve on every single snap. Correct footwork, correct hand placements, proper timing, cutting at the exact depth, correct number of steps before a throw, pitch, etc ... that is what determines the season. It's every single play. You go undefeated in one-play, 10-second chunks. A football field is 100 yards, and you win the game in a hundred battles for one inch of dirt at a time.

You took my comment out of context (as usual). Below is the comment, in context. And I hope you are not dumb enough to think the team has Brady's entire playbook ready to roll... this isn't Madden football.

May be somewhat scaled back. But I no longer think it will be totally plain vanilla. I think we'll see some fireworks. Hope so, anyway.

I want to drop 50 on GSU. Bama, Clemson etc always destroys smaller teams like this. We always seem to maybe score 30 points at most and it makes it look like we barely won. When we won our titles and even 2011 the first game of the year were against good teams and we destroyed them. I want to come out swinging and give the playoff committee something to think about aka (style points).

Well holding back the “secret playbook” every year has done nothing to help the offense against good defenses in the past.
So maybe it’s time to try something different.
