I agree with the outrage over hiring Orgeron, but the contract details were standard for an SEC coach, although extremely low (as it should've been).

The only outrage over the actual contract was by people who don't know anything.

You have miles firing as a pro and con

I’d consolidate the coach O hiring and coach O contract. Alleva signed about as basic a contract as you can for an SEC coach.

The rest is good.

He had zero. ZERO other coaching offers.

He had no leverage to negotiate any buyout much less the one he got. And he has a lengthy contract that should be enough for recruiting purposes, if he does well like he says the buyout shouldn’t even be in play. A buyout only pays out if you suck.

You think because other contracts have buyouts that it’s just standard. But every other coach has leverage. Tell me what leverage Orgeron had?

Let me clarify. It was a pro that he finally canned Miles. The con is how he handled it from a PR and foresight perspective.

I would keep the list to actual decisions he’s made. The outcome of “I’m the search” was the hiring of O, so including both seems redundant. But it’s your list (and a good one)

He didn't need any. It was a basic fricking contract. Whether he should've gotten the job is another argument (he should not have) but once he got it, that's a pretty standard deal in the SEC, although way on the cheap side (as it should've been).

These contacts attempt to give legitimacy and stability in a very PR/media sensitive business. You don't cut the nuts off of your new coach by giving him no buyout. It's a bad look.

It's irrelevant anyway. Not sure why you are obsessed about it.

I’m not adding this. That is expected of any highly paid upper level management position.

Mike the Tiger changes? (Mike no longer coming into stadium) -- this seems to have people split in opinion though, and it's not something that particularly upsets me, and I'm not sure how much control Alleva has with this

Beth wasn’t his initial softball hire...he hired a coach that backed out.

I think that’s been around once before Alleva?

I guess why I did it this way was because I don’t think the 2 decisions are one.

As far as “I am the search” I was referring to his hissy fit over the Herman/UT issue and not having a good plan after firing Miles early in the season. That was a bad look but he could have followed it up with a decent hire if he would have taken a deep breath

The next decision to hire Orgeron in my opinion is seperate. It wasn’t an obvious outcome.

Nikki Fargas, whose team has won eight in a row, and is 2-0 in the SEC...that Nikki Fargas? Because that hire looks pretty good right now.

This is why he should never have been hired in the first place.

If Ensminger is the OC does this go as a con against Alleva? Or does the blame fall on Orgeron?
