In light of the recent news that the hiring of Kendall Briles was shot down I am making a list of Joe Alleva’s (and BOS, F King, etc) transgressions. Feel free to add an I will update.

Cons:
Trent Johnson
Miles extension (Arkansas)
Johnny Jones
Miles firing part 1
Miles firing part 2 aka “I am the search”
Tailgate changes/ parking
Orgeron
Orgeron’s contract
Concessions

Pros:
Will Wade
Aranda extension
Facility upgrades
Beth Torina
Firing Miles
Graduation rate

Am I missing anything?

Agreed with all points and I’ve been ready for Joe to be fired for a decade now, but we’d be remiss to not mention the major facilities upgrades as a pro.

Otherwise he sucks and is very shitty at his job

Does parking count under tailgate? Remember the ill-fated attempt to charge $40 or 50 bucks to park in the hayfield this year?

I was against Orgeron being hired, but the buyout gets overblown. It was definitely needed for recruiting purposes as it shows stability.

Virtually no coach will get fired in less than 3 years, and by that time the buyout will be extremely low.

Absolutely no strategic prospective; management all reactive not forward thinking.

On plus side, he does get great plus for being at top of politically correct parade!

That’s how it was spun but I think it was purely emotional and a lazy decision.

Do you think recruits look a the size of a coaches buyout? And why would you assume LSU can’t pay a 10 mil buyout?

Also our recruiting is around 15, so that plan failed.

You forgot:

Cons:

Alleva refusing to resign
F.KIN refusing to fire Alleva

Pros:

Firing Miles. Only credit he gets

Signing off on hiring convicted felon Dereck Ponamsky

Throwing Duke coach and players under the bus for a murderer who was convicted of falsely accusing the players of rape

(since he’s nixing Briles on some moral ground)

His apologists will tell you he did a miraculous job of maintaining LSU as an SEC member, and thus able to receive a share of the new network revenue stream.

I have seen 10th and 11th...with some great players still leaning towards LSU which would make us easy inside top 10

Major college coaches have buyouts. It's part of the deal. Unless he gets fired for cause, in which there would be no buyout, he's here for at least 3 full seasons. At that point the buyout is minimal. Why get upset over a buyout that will never get paid?

And yes, other schools do use buyouts and contract lengths to negative recruit.

Also, recruiting isn't over yet.

Good collection of pros and cons but appears biased because you created a longer length of cons by putting things like Orgeron and Orgeron's contract on seperate lines but you don't make separate lines for things like Aranda and Aranda's contract extension. I think it's far to say there are more cons than pros but this is not presented fairly.

Additional Pro:
Beth Torina

I hate ADJA just as much as the next rantard. Cons: everything else others mentioned plus many, many more.

I included this but I’m tempted not to. When he took over LSU athletics were making an unprecedented amount of money, upgrades were inevitable. Did he do something in particular with regards to upgrades?

I’m pretty sure Les Miles sought out and recruited Aranda to come here. Correct me if I am wrong.

And Orgeron’s contract is an entirely different can of worms than the decision to hire Orgeron in the first place. There was a huge outrage when the details came out.

I have and am happy to add to the pros section if you have a convincing argument
