I also think that a plea deal will be reached and it may be done quciker than ,ost of us think. He will be back in just a few weeks. Of course im just guessing. But then there is gonna be a civil suit side to this that may take up some of JJ's time.

Maybe we're thinking about the person as well. You do know that college athletes are people, right? Not just some chattel put here for your amusement.

I've stated in every post I have made about the situation that I hope him nothing but good luck on a personal level.

I was talking about the 10,000 threads on here about him AS A PLAYER.

Your selective reading to try and illustrate a point gets old. The only thing i've ever wished on the kid was better play, I think its awful he has gotten involved in a criminal situation.

exactly.

Never seen so much outcry for a guy who was the 118th ranked qb in the country last year.

I understand that sentiment, but losing a whole season even if the worst accusations are true is WAY too much.

He needs to be suspended (if involved in the "fight") but not the whole season. Not a huge fan of his ability to play football at a high level but this has zero to do with that.

Could the civil suit side of this cause JJ to be out, even if a plea is reached in criminal side?

He if he stomped on the kids head while he was down and if he pleads quilty he should be done. We have already had a situation like this before and the kid was gone ASAP.

Highly doubt it. I would still put money on it that JJ will be back by week 4.

It's a bit tough to separate the two. Football has been a significant part of his life and identity, and may well continue to be. I've written and posted that I think he should graduate and put all of this behind him--maybe go into the CFL or Areana League or even try out for an NFL squad. But if he can get this wrapped up and return to his team, why would anyone oppose that?

If JJ stomped on a kid's head, he (the kid) would be in a coma or dead. JJ has 6 inches and 50 pounds on the average man, and the average man could easily kill by stomping on someone's head.

I don't think anyone really should, particularly not knowing the details.

I have a problem with how quickly and forcefully "society" in general is willing to take privilege and freedom away from people for such minor things. If there is indeed serious injury, I could understand 4-5 games at most. Spur of the moment youthful "indiscretions" shouldn't cost someone a whole year of eligibility and possibly a chance at a future career.

Lets say for the sake of argument Lee plays well and the Tigers are 6-0.

Jefferson returns,

What then? How big of a distraction for this team will that be? ESP if JJ continues his level of play from last season and Lee is having a good year.

I just think this team needs to move on from him, if he is innocent of the charges then it sucks he is robbed of his senior season, but no 1 player is larger than the team.

I still think this will go to trial, and likely will get ugly, with the defense attorneys pulling out all the skeletons in the witnesses and victims closets.

If it does go to a trial, this will not be resolved before the middle of next year, and the thought of Miles red shirting him is just absurd.

This shouldn't even be a part of the equation when deciding if you should allow JJ to regain eligibility.

If he tried to kill the guy? Yep, the charges should be upgraded and suspension upheld. If not, 3-4 games is enough.

If there is indeed a serious injury then he has committed felony assault and missing football games is the least of his worries.

he has 0% chance of playing in the NFL, please be smart enough to realize this.

1. In spite of what people are saying, this is simply not the type of thing that goes to trial. Period. It'll be pled down, or the GJ won't return a true bill, or the DA may randomly decide to drop the shite once the media has lost interest (they're close now).

2. If Lee's doing well, JJ won't be the starter. But I can't, in good conscience, consider robbing him of an opportunity to return to the team (if he's able) just to avoid a QB controversy. shite, 2004 was the last time we didn't have one, and we've done fine.
