I doubt that JJ will be much better than he is now. He doesn't consistently play smart

Yea, and who's ever heard of a first time 19 year-old, sophomore qb, ever getting smarter or getting better by the time he's a senior.

Some of you people are unbelievable.

how about Flynn was a senior with 3 years of experience under his belt making those 12 starts while JJ is still just a 19 yr old sophmore.. there is no comparison between the 2 at this point

Actually Flynn's first start as a sophomore came against a top ten ranked Miami team that Flynn helped to blow out and he was named MVP. No doubt MF had a more complete team around him, especially with all the injuries the team endured this season. Still, at relatively the same experience level as JJ is at now, MF was a bit more polished IMHO. I would say also that the current crew of recievers are every bit as good as those MF worked with in '05.

JJ has played two complete games in a row....his team on the other hand has not played one complete game and his coach still has failed to coach a complete game. get off his back.

Nothing against flynn, but it took him five years to get the starting job. No it's not because of jamarcus it's because the dude needed to grow up as a person and a player. Flynn came in multiple times before 07 and before the peach bowl, and proved he wasnt ready to start.

I'm ready to see a complete offensive line.

You idiots REALLY need to let it go. Tons of "JJ" threads started daily that can't see the forest for the trees.

If i'm not mistaken, JJ has started 13 games.

Prior to the NC game, MF started 12.(peach bowl+11 07' games).

the JJ lacks experience excuse needs to end. There are plenty of sophomore QB's that can lit it up. I have yet to even see JJ throw well for an entire game.
Usually his TD drives are benefited by huge runs, penalties, or big after catch moves by our WR's.

I'm ready to see a complete game by JJ.

Dude, seriously, he's the QB; he's not going anywhere.

Your time would probably be better spent whining about the OL.

Spot on.

Rantards completely ignore the fact that we have a below mediocre offensive line, absolutely zero running game, and an OC who hasn't figured out that running four second routes with no drop offs will get our QB sacked.

Besides WRs, QB is our best offensive position.

Exactly, even after the JL question was finally answered this season, they still insist our woes lie with a QB who just gets better and better with each passing game (pun not intended, but accepted ).

JJ does need to improve on his pocket presence though...takes sacks that he should be able to avoid with his legs

I agree to an extent, but it can't be ignored that the play calling has done him no favors. Crowton consistently calls deep routes for all receivers with no drop offs. Jefferson doesn't have an opportunity to throw a pass until 3-4 seconds after the snap. With our OL, 3-4 seconds is guaranteed pocket collapse. The last drive Saturday just shows how much drop off routes can help a QB. Even better evidence is this year's Saints offense. Without looking, I would guess that about 40% of Brees' completions are within 5-7 yards of the line of scrimmage. With our athletes at WR and RB, short and quick routes should be our bread and butter.

People forget, Flynn threw a lot of int's and missed a lot of open recievers. Now to his credit, he also would come back and make play when it counted. Lets give Jefferson time to grow. He really didn't play that badly this year. This team was not very good all the way around.

People really expect WAYY too much out of a college QB. Look at what Pryor did as a true sophomore and he was the top recruit. Also, when Colt McCoy was a sophomore, he was not that good either.

Give him time.

How much game experience did Flynn have prior to the Peach Bowl vs Miami.

I suppose you are expecting JJ to perform at or above the level of Flynn in that game, in the Capital One Bowl?

You do realize that QB is not the only position on offense, right?

We have only lost one game becuase of JJ QB play. JJ has played well and he will be one of the premium QBs next season

Not unless we are able to field a much better OL. Miles preseason comment was that it will be the best OL he's had. It is worse than last year and the worst since Miles has been at LSU. Ryan Mallett would have much worse stats if he had played behind our OL. JJ would have much better stats had he played behind ARKY's OL. BUT, he still has the problem of recognizing when receivers are open and selecting the correct one to throw to. The longer the pass attempt, the worse he is.

Slight revisionist history:

As a RS Soph in Peach Bowl, Flynn:

13/22 196 yards 2 TDs/0 Ints

As a true FR in Peach Bowl, Jefferson:

16/25 143 yards 1 TD/0 Ints

It isn't like Flynn played that much better in 2005 than Jefferson's performance last year.

He just turned 19 in August, and the difference between a 19 year old and a 23 year old is big.
