Jimbo is a big smoke screen

Nothing points to Jimbo leaving FSU. How often do we see coaches in wonderful situations leave for a lateral move. Now we view it as a move up and if you weigh all of the factors. It probably is a slight move up, but its not cut and dry. Both programs are easily top 15 programs in the country. Unless their is a personal conflict with the administration at FSU why would you leave? I would be thrilled to have Jimbo and hope it happens. I just think its a smoke screen for someone else.

You don't know much do you?

There is friction between Jimbo and the administration at FSU; without it, he probably stays, but with it, he moves on.

I don't claim to know anything. What I do know is when coaching changes are made its extremely rare that you can take anything that leaks out as fact. How often does the first rumors leaked turn out to actually be true?

Pretty sure Jimbo mentioned somewhere years ago LSU was his dream job. He even mentioned how much he loved it here as FSU's HC. Jimbo stayed here past Saban's era in hopes of being the eventual HC but he had disagreements with Les and FSU offered him coach in waiting. He couldn't refuse. If LSU wants him bad enough he'll come, IMO. The question is how much does he want and how much LSU is willing to pay him. If he expects something like 8 million a year I'm not sure LSU will pony up for that even though we can afford it.

Why would you use a home run hire as a smokescreen? Even if the other guy is a homerun, you're sure to have people complaining about not getting Jimbo.
You use a decent hire as a smokescreen to keep the heat off your home run hire.

His wife left him for a black dude. He's looking for a fresh start

Smoke screen might be a bad phrase, but jimbo coming to lsu makes little sense, imho.
With jimbo's family drama, I do not see him leaving his kids any time soon.
Also, recent ex wives are not very well known for wanting to help their former partners move three states away.
Sniff test tells me that this is a move to get jimbo more money at fsu.

and Michigan was Miles dream job. I am not disputing that Jimbo would want to be here some day. I hope I am wrong, Jimbo is who I want to coach LSU.

It's not always about just the money
Just how often do coaches get a chance to HC at LSU these days.. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.. and sometimes it's just about where you see yourself or feel most comfortable. I believe fully there is friction with him at FSU.. He may very well be ready to get away from it all and he may actually like to compete. People say oh he has it so easy in the ACC.. blah blah blah.. yet if you lose just one game there you are pretty much out.. Perhaps he wants to compete and in the SEC you can afford a loss. Also, the ACC seems to have been better than the SEC h2h of late any ways so I don't agree with people discrediting what he has done there. It's still highly impressive the teams he's put together and the recent success they have had.
It's more than a slight move up IMO. He would be as big of a coach as you could get that is current and has a very recent National Championship. He's only 50 and he is a monster recruiter. He has success where we need it most, and he's balanced at all phases of the game. I agree with you, it would be very exciting.

It was before he went to FSU. He stayed at LSU because he wanted the HC job here but knew he wasn't going to get it for awhile with Miles early success. FSU came in and offered him what he couldn't refuse.

FWIW Alan Risher said last night on Hanagriff's post-coaches's show that there is a 75% chance Fisher is signed as HC. Risher isn't always right but he must know something if he put the odds that high.
