Jefferson Should Have Taken Some Initiative

This in no way gets Miles off the hot seat. Actually, it turns up the temperature a few degrees because it's a coaching problem.
Yes, JJ is 19 and a sophomore. He was also one of the best high school qbs in the country and playing for an elite college program.
There's not many facts to ingest, here. There's one second left. You have no timeouts. No FG team is rushing on the field.
Instead of looking over to the sideline lost, shouldn't JJ have had the presence of mind to get under center (or shotgun) snap the ball and just fricking roll out and fly be the seat of the pants? From six yards out,the chances were acceptable that he could run it in or find an open receiver just running an impromptu route.
Yes, the ultimate responsibility for this cluster frick is the head coach's.
But JJ should have taken some initiative here.
It wasn't THAT hard.

Yea, I guess. Everything was such a cluster f$ck though. I'm with you, but....Hell, I don't know!

Should be taught in QB School: NEVER spike the ball with one second on the clock....EVER.

Maybe throwing the ball in the EZ would have also helped

How about a drop kick?

i cant be critical of the JJ - he was looking for direction from the place it was supposed to come from. If i were in that situation i would hope i would have had the presence of mind to just said f*ck it call my own play. anything would have been better than what happened. this truly does indicate something is very very wrong on the sidelines

Hey, it's still legal.
Wouldn't that have been the shite if JJ would have drop-kicked it through the uprights?
Oh man.
I feel like Adlai Stevenson when he lost to Eisenhower in 1952: "I'm too big to cry and it hurts too much to laugh."

This is exactly how I feel!
OK, I'm going to the Cowboys game now. Somebody send me Saints score updates please.

I wish he would have...but the leadership on the sidelines pretty much left him hanging. He was probably wondering why the hell the FG unit wasn't coming on the field.

I couldn't disagree more. I'd like to see how you would manage as a 19 year old playing in front of 90000 people. This is not a JJ problem.

If I'm JJ and I look over and my coach is doing the mexican hat dance on the sideline, WTF should I be thinking?

I agree as well. I am tired of hearing that he is only 19. As a quarterback you have to have the smarts to manage the game. Why in the hell was our jet field goal team not lined up on the sideline ready to go!

I agree with you Cussian.......this is totally 100% Miles' fault......Jefferson doesn't get paid $4M+ annually

Why do you run the same fade on conecutive two point conversion trys ??? I can't blame JJ at all....

Yes.... he should have lined up as the kicker and asked Lafell to hold.

Every team should have a contingence plan in that senerio. If it's the last play call out fire or something and everyone knows what to do. Sort of like when you have a botched snap on a field goal attept. It really is inexcusable that someone making 4 million a yrs has a brain fart like that.
