In what way? Did you have expectations of winning it all?

Yeah... can't try him. He may have cost LSU their big win yesterday. Definitely can't take the chance of giving the receivers a 50/50 shot a making plays. Guaranteed failure and a refusal to throw down field is definitely the way to go.

The problem is we cant get much worse at gaining passing yards. We are currently 121st in passing yards per completion and 93rd in passing yards per attempt. Under Daniels we are literally one of the worst passing teams in cfb

But you can get worse. Nuss seems less accurate and protects the ball less. He also doesn’t have the elusiveness that JD has. JD leads the conference in being sacked yet still leads the team in rushing. This a bad offense and it absolutely can get worse.

True, but not in any relevant sense. A loss is still a loss.

No it's not -- we are who 98% of people said we would be this year.

Time to go full rebuild at qb.

We're in a full rebuild everywhere. I'm not sure why this is lost on some of you. We were never competing for the SEC or even SECW this year.

I'll remind everyone: Saban's first year at LSU, we had lopsided losses to AU (34-17) and UF (41-9) and a home loss to UAB. It just takes time to right a ship like this.

Can’t a player still play in 4 games and preserve his redshirt? Maybe we fill get s glimpse of him at some point toward the end of the season.

His only asset is his running ability.

That’s not true. He is very poised and is a good leader. If they can get him to start throwing to guys who are covered by defenders who aren’t looking for the ball, he’ll be good. I like him better than what I’ve seen of Nuss.

What’s puzzling is that Kelly trusted him to seal the Auburn game on the road in a volatile situation when Daniels was ok to play, just didn’t have his normal mobility according to Kelly

Ive said it on here... if Daniels' mobility is hindered at all,he is our worst offensive player by far.

But he doesn’t play him late in a blowout loss when Daniels played poorly while the game was in contention. That doesn’t make sense strategically which signals another motive was at play

Tried to say that from ASU film and watching him in the spring game. When you are at this point in your career, your inherent traits don’t just go away.

That’s just not true.

We may be talking about different passes though.

That was right after the Tua debacle.

No one was leaving an possibly injured player on the field after the negative media coverage of the Tua situation.

Nothing against jd as a competitor but he just isn’t good. And he isn’t improving r out to warrant letting him play more.

Don’t mistake a lack of urgency throwing the ball to one-on-one matchups or wide open receivers with “poise.”

He just finished his sixth game in his fourth season as a starting Qb. He’s thrown 899 passes as a college QB. There is no more development to be had.

I tried to explain to my son how daniels ia affecting the run game too. The defense never has to worry about getting beat deep so they can have eyes in the backfield all day with out having to pay for it. Our playaction never works because daniels will never make them pay for biting on it. Watching kelly scream ," its 1 on 1 throw the fricking ball " was maddening to me. How can he not see JD will never throw that fricking ball?

This sums it up really well. I noticed in the Auburn game when Nuss was in he made a quick read and threw. I think he had already identified his hot route before the snap. Even though the results weren't there it's an improvement from earlier in the season when he just tries to wait for the deep routes to uncover. In the NM game he took a deep shot which was incomplete and threw some nice short routes which were catchable balls and turned into longer gains. He's a RS FR with limited PT, but I think he shows promise. He will make mistakes. JD is what he is. He won't stretch the field.

The plane is running out of runway. Three and a half years and he still hasn't mastered his craft.

What have you seen of Nuss? He never sees the field.
Betcha if a secret ballot was available, the WRs would rather have Nuss.

The premise of the original post is correct, in that we'd be foolish to believe that Daniels will materially improve. Saturday was Daniels' 35th college start, during which he's thrown 899 passes. For the most part, he is what he is, which is above average at best, and disastrous at worst. Against SEC defenses, Daniels is a less efficient Danny Etling.

Nussmeier has appeared in 7 college games and thrown 96 passes. At this point, I don't care how much better Daniels is than Nussmeier at practice. Daniels has proven that he is not good when it matters. Nussmeier deserves a full week of preparation with starters and a full start. His first shot went badly against Arkansas last season. He deserves another shot given Daniels' poor play against Auburn and Tennessee.

LSU needs a jolt. Starting Daniels against Florida is hoping that Florida craps the bed like Auburn and State did in the second half. It doesn't make sense to be the type of coach to wants the ball first, but then also the type of coach afraid to make this QB change.

the qb room is super young and inexperienced. shite, the whole roster is like that though. We have bright spots.. just won’t be right now like people

Good Gosh. Jayden is a 4th yr player. Every SEC team is “young”.
