I would buy that if it was a coach that was pursuing us. Not one that we are pursuing. He knows this job is his if he wants it so whats the harm in canceling the ESPN interview if he as the LSU job locked up?

ETA: One example off the top of my head is Urban Meyer canceling his covering of the Ohio St. game last season when he was rumored for the job. Not exactly the same situation, but a coach is gonna want to stay out of the limelight while negotiations are ongoing.
They do this all the time. The Urban Meyer example has no relevance because he wasn't coaching at the time. Rich Rod had a press conference expressing his love for WVU the day before he got on a Michigan plane. It happens all the time.

That's because he wanted to cover his arse should the Michigan deal fall through. That's my point. Dixon doesn't have to worry about that here. If he wants LSU, the job is his. So what's the concern in canceling the espn deal?
