They had to be looking for something else, and this is all they came up with at the time.
It would take quite a bit to get a warrant, so they must have had something on him.

I haven't heard the facts, was he in a vehicle? if so that is much easier for the police to search, they don't need much maybe a reasonable suspiscion.
If they searched his house with a warrant, it generally pretty tough to get a judge to sign off on a warrant unless you have credible information on what is being searched for.

This guy needs a mentor. I don't think he has ever has anybody to instill some discipline into his life. Too bad those uncles were too busy making excuses for him, instead of taising him the right way.

Ive got no idea, but it was done by undercover cops. Can you get a warrant if you bring in a drug dealer into your house?

I would assume if you invite an undercover cop into your home then they are have permission to be there and it is not an illegal search. They would have to have probably cause, but if they saw illegal activity going on then they could arrest you at that time without a warrant.
Once they have arrested you, they may need to then go get a warrant before they search any other areas of the home not in your immediate control at the time of the arrest
