I actually talked to Jake, his dad and his brother two summers ago. We were in the same condo at Destin. Mike McCoy was vacationing with them too.
Very nice people. Jake wasn't as talkative, but his dad and brother were very nice to visit with. They knew some of the guys I played football with who were also from Lafayette. They all played ball at USL.
There was another guy grilling steaks while we were all out there by the condo pits and he heard us talking about Louisiana. He didn't know who the Delhommes were and he asked us if we all liked the Saints?
I responded first and said, "I do, but I doubt that they do. They're Cleveland fans."
They didn't trash the Saints, they just said, "no, we're not Saints fans" and left it at that.

born and raised in lafayette and always wear my LSU gear. Never hear a word from anybody about it. Most people in lafayette are LSU fans btw just because you might run across a few people doesn't mean everybody hates them. If I would have gone to ULL I would have been a 3rd generation student and my entire family loves LSU. Not everybody and everything hates LSU like some of you think

the guy got better. in high school he may not have been the caliber of player he is now. he was all state at Tuerlings, just not at QB. He was an all state DE. I'm not saying he has to like LSU. I really don't care.

Many USL/ULL fans have serious envy of LSU. That said.. Jake would probably have sucked someone's dick to have had the opportunity to play at LSU instead of USL.

Agreed here. It wasn't so much the city that I saw with the venom for LSU as much as it was the segment of people who identify themselves as hard ULL fans. Most of the people could/would root for either.

This would be my guess too. Most of the ULL fans I know(dozens) really don't pull for any other Louisiana schools in football or basketball. To each his on. I actually pulled for them in bowl game, like many other Tiger fans did.

I think it's kinda funny. I'm not a ULL fan by any stretch but I pull for them in games not against LSU. I was really happy they won that game Saturday.
For him to say that, he really doesn't like LSU. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. No big deal though.

I grew up in the Acadiana "area" and I know plenty of ULL fans and a large percentage despise LSU.
I've dealt with it first hand for many years and it is NOT a new phenomena.
The USL/ULL hate for LSU exist and it is NOT uncommon or only a few. It's widespread and anyone who tells you different is full of shite.

1. I pulled for New England vs Panthers in the Superbowl. Won 100$ too...
2. Never gave 2 shites about Jake Delhomme.
3. ULL fans can be butt hurt as much as they want, the fact remains they have only scored what 10 pts ever vs LSU? They will never be on LSU's Level, and good luck at getting another 9 win season in that piss poor conference that you play in.
We as LSU fans don't hate ULL for the most part, ask one of us and we likely pulled for y'all Saturday night. I love Louisiana and will pull for any Louisiana school vs any out of state opponent. Sadly some fans from ULL don't feel the same way, so get over it you will never be us!!!

ULL hates LSU. Grew up in Lafayette and went to USL a few Summers to get some hours in and improve my GPA.

The vast majority of ULL fans I know hate LSU and actively pull against us at every turn. Now that LSU is elite in football many of them hide it or even act like they like LSU in mixed company, but trust me, they still hate LSU with a passion.
I hate any fanbase that hates LSU, and will never pull for U-La-La in any sport.
