It's NOT about politics. It's about respect for the OFFICE of the president, even if you dislike the current occupant.
I didn't like Obama, but if for some reason he had invited me to the White House, I definitely would've gone in a heartbeat.
Again, it's not about politics, although too many people nowadays make it about politics, which is very unfortunate.

I'm not big Trump fan, but yeah, it only makes sense to go when you're invited to something like that. I wouldn't look down on anyone who chose not to go, but heck it IS to celebrate the team.

If Hillary had won and for some reason invited me somewhere, I’d drop everything to go. The president is still the president whether or not you voted for or agree with them.
