Only school I can think of that does this is Texas A&M, and that is because that is a tradition they value only behind jizz jars. The rest of big time college football makes money off those seats.
The entire program is dependent on the school. No students = no LSU football.

Sorry but it's the truth. I hold season tickets in the north end zone and it amazes me that there's never been a student organization that demanded better seating. Personally I was shite housed during all the football games when I was at LSU so I didn't give a damn.

If this is basketball related yes. If football it's one of the dumbest ideas I've seen in a while.

Is there a rule that keeps student section from being behind the opponents bench? Cuz that would be awesome. Still basketball related.

I'm an old fart who sat in the student section on the 45 yard line from 1975-80.

What and deprive the corporate types of their season tickets that they do not use.

I think they should move the band a little closer to the corner of the end zone and put them where they were in the 1980's. But, up until the athletic departments went on a spending spree , students used to be able to spend a little more on tickets and get into the reserved yellow backed seats. I know the fraternities back then used to get reserved seating for something like 5 or 10.00 a ticket.

Didn't matter if LSU sucked, the student section used to fill up for the game....they may have left in the late third quarter if LSU was really sucking. Nowadays they start leaving at halftime even if the team is winning....except in the Alabama game

TGBFTL is not directly behind the goalposts.

As things get worse we are going to need to put the students in position to make a difference with crowd noise.

Why would you want to put the emptiest sections on the sidelines?

"Used to" is the most relevant part of this...as in 20-30 years ago.

Man, this breaks my heart. People get pissed when I stand in front of them, but we're not at the damn Masters, we're in Death Valley. Shoot, the crowd is more rowdy at the Masters than in the LSU student section now.

Texas has a good portion of their student section along the east sidelines, or least they used to.

I know it's going back to prehistoric times, but in the late 60s, the student section started at about the 30 or 35 yard line, and went to the corner.

I went to LSU in the 90s and the last home game I attended was in 02.

It's sad to read about the new stadium experience. I can't believe they moved both the band and student sections.

Question, how much are student tickets for football today? Are basketball tickets still first come first served for the student section?

Back in the 90s you could get an entire season ticket package during registration for very cheap, fraternity tickets were reserve tickets and also very cheap. Many times I sat right at field level, all you had to do was show up early. Basketball would sometimes have students camping out for tickets, then again we got to see Shaq. Haha

In 1978 the band was on the sidelines and there was a section on the 45 you could get if you got in line early, most of the student seats were on the other side of the band in the nw corner. I think Brodhead gave our seats to the fing state legislature during a funding crisis.
