Thats the problem with LSU fans. They are putting high expectations on average players. Malcom white was never good but if you listened to LSU fans you wouldve thought Brandon Bass was coming in. Also Hamilton isnt good but he keeps getting talked about. People on here were even hyping Garret Green last year and he isnt that good.

+1...add Ludwig to the high expectations, too. Rant knows basketball

Do not bring anything negative about TJ here. Any of those facts have been shot down as "It's only his third year" or "He had nothing when he came" or the best yet "You must be racist if you don't like TJ".

what it boils down to is that Brady was here when La had tons of great players to get... Bright, Swift, Bass, Davis, D. Mitchell, T. Mitchell, CT3 etc..

So Louisiana has no good talent? I understand some of those guys were the best we've seen in awhile, but it's not a solid excuse.

yeah, that's what I'm pretty much saying for the last 3 years or so. There's no elite talent in La and we aren't exactly a national powerhouse thats going to go into Texas or Florida and pull the high 4 stars and 5's. I can't think of any big names out of La that Trent has missed on...

and FWIW, I don't think talent is all the problem. We had the better players last night but the lack of hustle on D and on the boards was so fricking bad.

So coaching must not be important than. Talent must now out weight coaching and all other aspects.

CC was coached, and their less gifted players were able to defeat ours. Our fundamentals are down, and it is obvious from our lack of defense and terrible shooting percentage. He may be an excellent recruiter as you claim, but I still don't see him coaching that great.

the west is really bad. I think they can get to 6 wins if they tighten up on D.

our 2-time gatorade player of the year was ranked in the 70s on rivals. i wouldn't call that "elite talent"

This team will be fine. They are young and talented and will only get better. Because of their youth they will lose some games they shouldn't. Even the Shaq/CJ team did that. Trent is a solid coach with a great demeanor. He is doing things the right way and he is a class guy.

We had some great in state talent, and although he usually chased it off, Brady did bring in some big out of state names too. A. Randolph, Ross Neltner, Jaime Lloreda, Regis Koundjia, Tack Minor, Magnum Rolle and Marcus Thornton.
And don't forget Ben Voogd!

You can say the same about Swift and T. Thomas.

Regardless, those were all big time recruits that were from out of state that Brady got here. It's great to have a Bass, Davis, Taz and Tyrus in your back yard, but I'm sure LSU will pay the airfare to go to other States.

Brady's coaching wasn't the problem, well mostly wasn't.
The fact that he was a complete prick was the problem.

This year, I expected better play from White and I expected Storm to be at least on par from last year. To this point both have been disappointing.
Because of that, this team will struggle. When you have NO inside presence, it's easy to defend the perimeter.
Add to that, your talent on the perimeter is 2 true Frosh and a soph still coming back from a major injury 2 years ago. And struggles are going to happen.
If this team can start getting somewhat solid play from White, Warren, Green, and even Harris. Then I think you'll see this team start to look alot better.
Right now this team is forced to shoot lights out to beat even decent teams.
All the practice in the world isn't going to prepare kids like Stringer and Turner for some of the various looks that they will see from different teams. So your going to have growing pains while they make mistakes and learn.

Thornton is a Baton Rouge native who was playing JC ball in Kilgore Texas. Pretty damn good player.

It also doesn't help that La hasn't exactly been stellar the last few years with Bball talent.

This is amazing to me. It seems like football and basketball players come from the same demographic, and LA makes plenty of football players. Why do we suck at bball talent?

Because all of the athletic talent plays football instead?
