it was amazing to see, but the defensive guys looked confident as hell.

sure had a lot of swag going even though they weren't stopping Arkie in the second half. they looked confident as hell. I haven't lost hope in them. they are showing that they could become a good defensive team at some time this year. as newer players are integrated into the system with more and more playing time, cleaning up some mistakes, etc. worst part is the zone. LSU has never had a good zone defense. anyway, there is still raw potential there, imo.

they are still tinkering with who can play at this level....our staff did a horrible job predicting this in the offseason. But they ARE allowed to improve week to week.

Now, this doesnt mean Alabama, Ole Miss, and others arent going to improve in congruence with us. It just means you'll see better football. This is a better team than the one that lined up across from FSU.

At least they have the fight, just are inexperienced, but they can be taught. Its been my experience many people these days have swag before they ever back it up with game.

Confidence and incompetence often go hand in hand. Ever heard of the Dunning-Kruger effect?

It’s a lot easier when you have options that have been in the program a while. When you are forced to rely on true freshmen and transfers sometimes their film and practice performance doesn’t translate. The off-season can’t always replicate game day.

The biggest tell for when LSU has a shite defense is when players celebrate tackles after giving up first downs

I always know its going to be a long season.

I don't understand celebrating, in general. I mean, you're being paid (via scholarships and NIL) to make tackles.

Why celebrate at all? Act like you've been there before.

Major Burns play at the goal line was a game saver. Arkansas played a nearly perfect game offensively including 4th down conversion and many 3rd down conversions. Several catches that were contested. Defense had to go against an NFL-ready caliber QB. They will learn from this game and get better. Our blitz package will improve as well. Got to sack the QB! DB’s can only contain receivers for so long…..

I feel like there is a joke here about how this was derived and posters on this site.

A couple of charts that illustrate the concept.

Can you extend the perceived vs actual performance chart far down and several clicks to the left to accurately map where Deion Sanders is living right now?

I'm absolutely serious.

I don't mind a fist pump or hugging a teammate. I'm not wanting our guys to be emotionless robots.

But the preening and posing over every routine play is absurd.

Again, act like you've been there before, and act like you EXPECT to make big plays, and aren't surprised when you do.

That and celebrating the incomplete pass because the QB made a bad throw.

But they are just kids.
