Agree. It should be top 4 of BCS system.

I feel sorry for Penn St today. Beat OSu straight up and won their conference.

Never heard the word "brand" in reference to a college football program when it came to playoffs before the committee came to be. Just another reason for subjectivity.

Fast forward to today and you watch Ohio State who lost the head-to-head, didn't win it's division, and didn't win it's conference get in over the team that did all of that and beat Ohio State. The question is simple, is a selection committee really better than the computers?

No, they just did what they said was flawed with the computers. I believe Penn State has the third longest winning streak in college football as well.

Who's to say they are not one of the top four teams in college football today? They have obviously improved tremendously.

I guess games in November and December do not matter anymore. It's what you did in September. Makes no sense to me.

so you punish a team for losing to Pitt but reward another for losing to the same team. You take head to head, division title, conference title, out of it.

Everyone should fill the non conference games up with the weakest teams they can find so there will be no out of conference loss. Then, what you do in conference matters.

All we needed. BCS wasn't completely flawed.

It was to the media. Who's the largest medial market? Los Angeles. Who did they feel got screwed in 2003? USC. So they took the computer out of it. Had that been Wisconsin, you don't hear a peep.

Should move to 8 team play-off. Conference champions of each power 5 conference and then let committee select 3 others

This system is crap. You cant even play your way in now. Some teams can just sit at home and walk in. There is something wrong with this concept...

Folks like it or not our world is moving to predictive analytics to run business- called innovation. We took a 1960's step back with a human committee. It is so easy to program attributes like strength of schedule, head/head etc....all types of data blending to get the most objective results. College football does not want that based on 2011 NC game where 2 SEC teams played (1 earned LSU, 1 unearned Alabama) thus the Playoff Committee. Their goal is to distribute the wealth if you will across all conferences not the best teams. There has to be some foundation of rules however...I'm still baffled that you can't win your conference yet be allowed to play for and win the NC

Agree....keep BCS rankings & just take top 4 teams. PAY-off committee has just moved the goalpoststo suite their desired outcome.

Why even play conf championship games if it wont help you?
If they would've done that this year, the top 4 would've been:

1. Bama
2. Ohio state
3. Clemson
4. Washington

Listened to the screaming for playoff committee for years while the BCS did it's job. Why, because the computers (compiled) got it right, but did not fit the bias. So now they have their inherit "pick your team" playoff and they (TV) are all happy.

Do any of you think other than '11 and possibly '03 that we would have made the title game?

We are Louisiana and it will always be this way. Watching it for 56 years, so get used to it.

Hell they spent 40 hrs of TV time over the last year just making fun of our coaching situation; from one extreme to the other. We are but a footnote now to be ridiculed by ESPN, et.al.

Never understood why they would rely on a committee and not just put every conference winner in the playoffs. It would keep the regular season releivent along with the championship games.

Exactly! Most CF football fans took the bait when the media promoted our first college football playoff thinking it was. It's corrupt as hell and shifts all the best players to the small group of teams that control getting in the playoffs. In other words, get the best players to the schools with the largest fanbase following.

I think the BCS refined system they had was better than this "each committee member value system" method.

Computers are clearly less biased.

Surely you understand that humans program the computers with a formula that values the criteria those particular humans think are more valuable.

Computers don't magically know who the better teams are. They merely calculate what the human programmers tell them too.
