No he doesn't. Its always been Saban, The talent LSU gets, and Chavis. You guys are unreal. Miles never gets credit for wins, only gets the losses credited to him.

Remember any idiot could coach LSU to 10 win seasons. We've seen this for 10 years now.

No one deserved a raise after this year.

Chavis has been solid but bumping a DC who doesn't like to recruit in a cutthroat league to 1.8 mill per is dumb. The D is not our problem obviously but it's not like they didn't lose games for us several times over the past few years.

Now if the next hire sucks...then I guess he would have been worth it.

Coach Chavis IMO my opinion is a good man (not perfect) but an average coordinator with above average talent. He isn't very creative and relies on old, worn out schemes that our opponents know and exploit. If his talent is better than yours, he does well. But with equal talent, he can't get it done.

Look at Ohio State last night dropping a DE into coverage when they know Bama had a tendency to throw a slant to Cooper. Result was an Pick 6 that was the margin of victory. When is the last time that one of our Defenses did something like that? We lost to Bama when Julio Jones played because PP7 went out the game with cramps and Julio lit up the backup.

Since Coach Chavis isn't a primary recruiter, I am going to go out on a limb and say that his best defenses are a result of Frank Wilson and Coach Miles' efforts at recruiting. LSU does have the most ex-players in the NFL of any college program.

I think in the end Coach Chavis got in a tit-for-tat with BeanCounter Alleva and that led to how the end ultimately played out(shitty). At the end of the day, he was a decent coordinator but a change will be good for the program IMO.

And if you're not careful, you'll get blamed too.

If germans, excuse me, but in an article in The Advocate, a stat was given that does give one pause when it comes to evaluating Chief.Since 2012, roughly covering 33-34-35 games, LSU's defense gave up last minute, end of the game drives to lose a game 5 times. I would include this yr's O.Miss game, too, as if it was not for Bo being Bo, the black bears could have easily kicked a game tying field goal, after driving down the field in the final minutes & then potentially won the game in OT, as bama did. So that means, out of 35 games, LSU could have lost 6 times by last minute drives. Do the math. Overall I feel Chief was a great coach for LSU, but his defenses did give up a lot of game winning drives & a ton of yards at times, too.

There are no honey badgers or PP7s on this defense

I'd bet my house on the fact that Jamal Adams ends up being as good as both of them. He's very special along with Mills, Jefferson, hell even Collins really showed up this year excluding the bowl game. Most teams don't have a full defensive backfield of 4 and 5 star prospects and you pretty much reiterated my point: his defenses don't play above their talent level when he doesn't have PP7, mathieu, and Claiborne locking down the entire field 10+ yards away from the line of scrimmage

What an idiot. So we aren't immensely talented on defense?? That's hilarious.

LSU's ability to run the ball and eat up time has as much to do with the defensive stats as defensive schemes and players.

this. plus most of the measurable I see about defensive effectiveness is "yards given up". stats are stats but it does no good to lose a game even tho all the yards you gave up were late in the 4th of a close game.

I don't think anyone was ready for the Chief to leave but we feel like a spurned lover. so now we trash her. sounds like normal human behavior to me.

having said that, A&M's defense will improve and ours will probably stay about the same and we have a shot at improving our D in critical situations. the Chief was figured out by opposing OC's in those situations. didn't you notice?
