I've been hearing the governor elect and state politicians blocked the football coaching change because they're afraid of how that would look to those that elected them. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

If this is true, it looks like the LSU athletic dept may sink into the dark ages again with the politicians pulling strings.

Oh lawd.

The people are already blaming JBE for everything and he has no power (yet.) I could see where maybe the BoS decided the publicity wasn't good in light of the massive budget problems that the state is projected to have this year, but it is highly unlikely that JBE intervined. No sources, just common sense.

We've gotten considerably cheap as an AD since FKA was installed in 2013.

In what way? Unless not firing coaches is considered cheap now.

If Steele making 1 million is your proof you should consider that while he makes less than Chavis, O's increase over Brick makes up the difference.

Nothing to do with politics. We would of never reached out to a coach to replace Miles just for the hell of it.

I am more inclined to believe King Alexander single handily sunk whatever was planned. He started a shite show claiming LSU was "bankrupt" and he is more worried about how he looks than anything else.

So we got bored with Alexander being the mastermind behind all of this and decided to move up to the next rung?

I'm actually started to get kind of excited to find out how deep this Rant rabbit hole goes. Somebody find me when the NSA makes their appearance in these stories.

Jindal, Jindal's Republican appointees, and several Republican legislators intervened with their opinions supporting Miles.

My sources say that is Alleva had properly managed the narrative, he wouldn't have been B slapped by his daddy.

I LOVE it that people are blaming Alexander.

He had to jump in when Joe botched it.

How hard would it have been to come out and tell the media that Les is our coach. Boom that's it. Instead he pulled the no comment and silence card out.

Because of his silence the media was able to play up all sorts of angles including the 15M buyout in the face of budget cuts.... still silence from Joe.

Everyone with a brain knows that the buyout money is private donations and the buyout would have been far less than 15M. Add in the fact that athletics semis a TON of money to education. ... but no no no, let's not control the narrative, let's let the media run around saying whatever they want while we are silent.

Blah blah TLDR, ... Alexander had to tell Joe that he created such a massive PR nightmare because of his ineptitude that the only way to move forward was to shut it down.

Blaming Alexander is simply incorrect

LSU isn't broke. His claim of "educational bankruptcy" is simply absurd. He was more concerned with making sure the legislature raised taxes instead of cutting his budget.

Like you said, anyone with half a brain knows LSU does not pay a dime toward the buyout.

He could have come out earlier as well. He could have told Alleva to come out and say the deal was not happening.
