Is the attitude around here different than in 2003?

I was not around TD.com at that time, but can any of the veterans talk about the general vibe on the board in the weeks leading up to the SEC CG and the NC?

The current board is full of Tiger fans patting each other on the back, deservedly so after the year this team has had. I wonder what it was like in 2003.

(I won't even ask about 2007 because I can only imagine what giving up 50 points at home ranked #1 must have been like )

I don't believe TD was around at that point. There were a couple of other sites, but the fortunes of LSU in the past 10 years has certainly changed many things.

In '03 I think most fans were just used to getting over the shellshock of the 90's. It was hit or miss, we had a little success under Dinardo, but never really pushed into the upper echelon of the CFB world. That sort of changed in '01 when we beat Tenn in the SECCG. Tenn had it's bags packed and was all but heading to the Rose Bowl to take a shot at another NC. We managed to beat them with a back up QB and RB.

I think that signaled the rise of LSU, but I'm sure a lot were still wary about it being a fluke. That it wouldn't last, like before when we came close to success but couldn't continue it. I think '03 really put us on the map as being a big player in CFB. It took the program to the next level, and opened the door for a lot of fans you see to today. As a fan base we were far less cocky then, but we were just as loud.

It was. The 10th anniversary was a few months ago.

My apologies... I remember when it started, just didn't place it that far back.

the LSU part was obviously smaller, but not much different, you had your typical mix of homers and haters. There were a few, for example, posting after the BCS win that there was no excuse for LSU players cramping so bad in the game. The buildup for the SEC game was pretty big since many of us had not experienced LSU at that level before. The atmosphere at the ga dome was incredible as well.

Before the NC it got a little interesting with a few USC and Oklahoma fans venturing over.

I remember back then when it was a very exciting time to be a fan of the LSU Tigers. Especially the way they were peaking toward the end of the season. One of the main things we were bitching about at the time was Trev Alberts of ESPN not giving LSU any respect in the week leading up to the rematch with Georgia. Well, LSU showed up his arse and shut his pie hole up.

I wasn't here so don't know

But I know I didn't feel that it was the start of THIS

I felt that specific team was great but that it was kind of a one time thing. Not that it would go back to what it had been in the 90's

I signed up and started posting in Sept of 2003. Not too much has changed, just a lot more members and fans since the 03 title. I don't remember it being quite so negative, but at the same time I don't remember so much confidence heading into BIG games. Talking hoops was fun, there were like 5 other people that cared...
