2. the throws were perfectly accurate.

The issue was the throws didn't need to be accurate. He had deep half and he was in a trail position. That cannot EVER happen in that scheme. There was no fitting in necessary. It was a difficult throw made extraordinarily easy by bad technique.

unfortunately. Can not play the ball in the air at all.

Yet he made two great pass break ups at the end of the TCU game. Shutting down their drive late in the game and preventing a TD.

Stupid how many are shitting on him for starting his first ever game at safety.

After rewatching the game last night, I think this is a fair comparison...unfortunately. Can not play the ball in the air at all.

I'm starting to think we need to start a new tradition. Whole fricking stadium yells "BALL!!!" when the ball goes in the air. Drives me nuts when DB's almost get hit in the head on on a complete pass.

Micah Eugene is a freak athlete. Still learning the system, still has time to improve in coverage. Will be in the NFL.

Just like Danny McCray. A lot of the pro scouts on this board love to hate on the guy and say he's garbage, but somehow he's managed a multi year NFL career.

An NFL caliber talent can make a multi-year career and still be objectively bad at any number of football skills. Kickers and punters for instance. McCray has a great skill, covering kicks. It doesn't mean that he's a good safety. Every advanced metric, that's right, every single one of them, says that he is a net negative playing in the secondary. Those metrics are saying that the league average replacement player is better than he is at playing safety. He's like a punter, a kicker, a long snapper. He's a special teams specialist.

Most people can divorce themselves from the notion that just because you struggle to do one thing in a field doesn't mean you can't excel at another smaller, but still important part.

You can't bash Danny McCray too much I mean he is in the highest level of football, the NFL, while we are all just on our computers wishing we made the amount of money he makes.

Your comparison is faulty. I'm not comparing him to you who obviously sucks at football and he is clearly much better than you could ever hope to be. I'm comparing him to all of the people that are NFL caliber. Every statistic since he's been in the league comparing him to the relevant population says he is objectively, quantifiably bad at playing safety. Again, I don't take any joy in that, but I think a lot of people like to celebrate these fake accomplishments so everyone feels nice. If you straight told him not to feel bad that he's better at playing safety than you are, it would not make him feel any better, I assure you.

A little more time please. It amazes me how people here go into some sort of group feeding frenzy attacking everything about a kid out there doing his best. I remember all the denigrating talk about our terrible 'smurf' wide receivers last season .....sheesh.....
