May OLD neighbor said that back in the deafing days of TS when almost everyone cheered and yelled, that the crowd would constantly yell even when the other teams offense was in their huddle. This is when it is most important and effective to get loud when the other team is trying to call the play. When they already know the play, crowd noise can be their advantage(sometimes) B/C the defense is trying to change their scheme. IMO ????

Oregon and Michigan both are designed to keep the noise inside the stadium. It's practically rock climbing to get up those stadium stairs, and because of that, the sound echoes off what is in effect walls, keeping the sound inside the stadium and consequently making it seem louder with less people.

Oh, and Michigan has 100,000+ in it. Well, until this year.

I guess the 70s and 80s crowd are the older tiger fans. Geez it seems like yesterday when ALL through the football season I could barely talk. I really think my vocal cords a affected to this day.

Man it stayed loud !!!!!! Nobody stopped yelling till the game was over. Thanks TAF !! Sorry but I blame them for alot!!

Also one of the OldTimer tiger fans told me that the longer TV commercials have weakened our constant crowd noice. (Frick CBS)

I get tired of waiting for that damn guy with the red hat to move off the field.

has any other stadium ever caused an earthquake??

I'm willing to bet that MANY stadiums on MANY different games had similar results to this.

The "new" UT stadium is loud for Texas but not loud by SEC standards.

I agree somewhat, however the UT/Mizzou game was louder than any of the LSU games I attended this year, with the exception of the Bama game. The Arky and Aggie games were boring blowouts. When Tiger Stadium is at its best, no other college venue can touch it. Sadly, this year there wasn't a whole lot to cheer about.

Eugene Oregon, "autzen Stadium" is pretty loud. It was built to be loud though, I think it reaches up to 60-70k .

The only away game I made this year was Auburn also. It was pretty loud, but I don't think it has anything on the Florida game last year.

It only holds about 55 K and used to hold a fair amount less before the remodel a few years ago. Autzen is probably the loudest per person, and the loudest I've ever been in by far, but I'd imagine Tiger Stadium and Penn St are louder. Autzen is an amazing place to watch a game though

The noise goes directly OUT at Michigan. It's a bowl built in the ground, the noise goes straight up and out. Perhaps the least noise generated per # of seats in the NCAA, and no, I'm not joking.

You sure? I thought it was Michigan as well...eh. Probably not remembering the right stadium.

I definitely remember Oregon being designed like that, though. So, Michigan is a bowl?

You're correct about Oregon. Small capacity, but crazy fans and good stadium shape=loud. They are DEFINITELY the loudest stadium per capacity in the NCAA.

But, yeah, Michigan's actually pretty quiet. Maybe you're thinking Washington? That's a pretty small but loud stadium also, due to its shape.
