as I understand these contracts, they couldn't make les fire cam. But, cam's contract runs out in march, and les can't hire him back without board approval.

it's alleva's chance to stick it to miles.

BUT, if we wait until march to hire a new OC how's that gonna work out?

Who's got the upper hand here?

I think if miles insists on having his way he gets it. if they don't renew cam's contract then they'll look mean and unreasonable again.

btw, I don't care. cam's not the problem for all I know. might as well let les have his own staff.

It won't matter who the new OC is.

Les is the OC. He could save the university a mil or so in salary by just dropping the pretense.

This might sound strange, but I wouldn't mind him actually calling the plays. Right now he lets CC and the staff run the prep for the week and then meddles on gameday with the playcalling and substitutions, etc.

At least if he ran everything during the week, the players would get more reps in his style, no matter how strange it may be.

The reps in his style aren't the issue the fact that his style is completely ineffective and predictable is the issue

Unfortunately you're right. And if I had three words to describe how I feel I would choose "really really sad".

No wait that's two words "really very sad"

I'm not suggesting that it would result in some drastically improved offense. But it would at least give them a feel for what's actually going to happen on Saturday.

To be fair, it's not completely ineffective. A&M was held to 10 or less 3 times. We were never held under 14.

and predictable is the issue

this is the bigger problem that anyone with a good defense can exploit.

But it goes back to the adage "Defense wins championships." I think we would have at least gone to the playoffs with 2003's defense.

Problem is, even though Cameron's contract is up in March, what other coach worth anything would take the job right now? It's pretty obvious Miles is coaching for his job next year, so why exactly would a good OC take this job when it could very well be a one year contract? This is another huge reason letting all that leak and then keeping Les around was terrible for the program. It basically forces us to keep the staff too.

If Les's job is really on the line next year, continuity is the best strategy for success and Cam should be renewed.

Because cam made $1.5 million this year and the next highest coordinator made $900k

If Alleva really wants Les gone, he'll let Miles renew Cam's contract for another year.

Let les have his way "again" and then can his arse mid season when the same shite show continues. President needs to get shite canned for making the University look foolish and being nutless along with Alleva for no sack. At least get some admin people in place with moxy and balls and a bit more cunning by damn!

Whatever it takes. Hell, promote Peveto to DC if it will expedite things a bit.

What I do not know FOR SURE is .....
who is controlling our offense.

I see very little change from the days prior to Cam coming to LSU.

If Less is so determined to meddle with the play calling, just save the 1.5 mil and let him run the offense! Then he could be the guru & also lose his 'built-in' scapegoat.

I've never seen a head coach that had a play chart with only about 15 things on it. Some one posted a picture of the 'Menu' from the game and it looked like it could have fit on an index card! If he is going off of his 'greatest hits' chart and doesn't let the OC get into a groove.....well, I think that explains almost everything.
