I've always been a MIles supporter. No he's not perfect and he has his flaws. On the other hand I've always been a Pawl defector. He isn't the worst coach ever but is no where near what people think he is.

That being said I've always wondered why Pawl got a free pass from criticism while Miles is roasted. So does this shite show of a coaching choke job finally put them on equal bash status with the fan base?

You can borrow my knife if you want to slit your wrists.
I'm sure no one here will care.

Maybe Paul gets a pass because of the seasons he has put together recently. His Post Season struggles recently make me nervous but we continue to be among the best in the country.

I know It was another tough year in Omaha but to be one of the top 6 teams in the country is impressive. Of course this board anything less than #1 is a failure.

As I've heard a dream season for LSU is the other guy to start, LSU to go undefeated, win the national championship, and fire the coach.

I can't imagine what robicheaux would do with LSU's talent year after year. I bet, after the first practice, he'd go home and tell his wife, "holy shite!!!! this is going to be too easy".

5 titles in 10 years will spoil a fanbase.

Absolutely. He is a mediocre coach at best and always has been. LSU baseball recruits itself. Great stadium and facilities, great weather to play in, best College Baseball fan base in the country, most fan support, biggest crowds to play in front of, nationally recognized by the majors as a place to look for talent, all of it. And CPM spits the bit when it comes to performance in the CWS except once, when it comes to developing a lights out 2nd starter and no third starter hardly at all, no patience by his teams at the plate ever, lousy base running throughout the season, line up management when in a slump, pitching decision throughout the season that prevented a third starter from developing. Just real mediocre performance by him.

PM and LM are very similar coaches. Both will keep their teams competitive, both recruit well, both are likeable people,- players and coaches like them, they both frustrate fans - they have each won the big one and each year they make fans believe it will be this year, both are stubborn, slow to make changes and often seem like they get lost in the game.

There is another similarity-neither appears to really grasp the key position- QB and Pitcher- now they both know that is key but their recruiting and coaching of the key position is suspect.

Now you can throw tomatoes at me

I just posted this in another thread, seems like it should go here as well

I love Skip and think he was the greatest baseball coach in NCAA history. But looking at the stats, 9 years into his tenure at LSU, him and Paul Mainieri have strikingly similar numbers in terms of Outcome.

Skip:
SEC Reg Season Champ 4
SEC Tourney Champ 3
NCAA Tourney appearances 7
CWS appearances 5
championship 1
CPM
SEC Reg Season Champ 4
SEC Tourney Champ 5
NCAA Tourney appearances 8
CWS appearances 4
championship 1

Id say they both get roasted pretty regularly.
PM's achievements over the last 3 or 4 years absolutely trump Miles' though. The 2 programs are moving in different directions IMO

We saw what happened the one year he outtalented most of his competition.

I have never liked CPM for LSU. I support every coach we have and will defend them, but there are just so many better than CPM, and we can get them.

Do you seriously think putting PM here in the same time frame Bertman took over that PM would have those same results in the first 9 years that Bertman did? PM took over a power house. Bertman not so much.

Bertman also had advantages on roster limits and most other teams in baseball not caring about being competitive. Lets be fair here.

I wouldn't necessarily call the Smoke years "power house"

Yeah, way to use a large sample size. Thats like saying Bertman sucked bc LSU didn't even win the 92 regional after winning 50 games that year and being the 1 seed in the regional.

The school itself is recognized nationally as a baseball powerhouse. Even when Laval was here. PM didn't exactly have to come in a build a program from the ashes.
