this could be a really good team if he could.

one other thing - would someone on the coaching staff please tell victor not to shoot the ball from beyond 4-5 feet unless the clock is down? victor is a great player for this team but he can't hit nothing from the outside. I hate to see those wasted possessions.

Blakeny is the x factor for our team going forward. If he gets hot, we become a contender, but if he doesn't we may not make the tournament.

these threads will pop up until the end of february... he hit TWO three's yesterday so he can do it, but I don't know how often that is going to actually happen.

At this point I'm not convinced he ever had one.

I've lost count of the # of times victor shoots immediately after getting the ball. Doesn't matter where he is on the floor.

It would sure help. He did hit two yesterday, but I would like to maybe see him mix in a shot fake and drive to the hole every now and then.

I think he has the skill set to do this but rarely ever tries.

I think from what I've read he's been told to shoot his way out of this slump. Well the year is half over, maybe try something new, as it's apparent he's going to get the playing time no matter what.

If he doesn't find his stroke, I'm definitely gonna have a stroke watching this team play down the stretch.

I never thought he would be an elite freshman but I think he'll be a fine 2/3 year player.

He is just a freshmen. He had the ability to hit outside shots in HS.

He will definitely get it back.

Was he not a slasher type player that created his own shot in high school? he has rarely attacked the rim the year.

"FIND HIS STROKE" would mean he had a 'stroke' and lost it!

There is no evidence that he ever had a stroke "to lose"!

The REAL question is CAN Blakeney develop a jump shot? That that will happen any time soon is highly UNLIKELY!

HE NEEDS TO STOP SHOOTING THE BALL!

They had Bilas on one of the local shows after the Kentucky game and he said Blakeny was a point guard in high school? Did not realize this.

So one would think he'd have some ability to take it to the hole. Would be an alternative to trying to shoot his way out of the slump as he has been and perhaps would provide us something more than he's provided to this point since his first few good early games.

There were two games early this year where he was raining in threes. Have not seen that consistently enough to know conclusively if that was an aberration or not.

Idiotic post.

1. The "youth" excuse doesn't apply to basketball.
2. Being a good shooter in high school means nothing now. College ball is a huge step up in competition.

I hope he starts consistently hitting his shots, but we've played half a season now. That's a big enough sample size to see what a guy has. A "slump" is a few games. We're way beyond that.

Better question is, when will JJ hold guys accountable for taken bad shots and turning the ball over.

He gets too much playing time, in my opinion.

It would be great if Blakeney turned in one of those November performances in conference play. I still think it could happen. He also grabbed 7 rebounds in the Florida game, thought that was notable.
