If he is as good as lebron, I am assuming he would probably following in lebrons' footsteps and going pro instead of going to college...

As usual, the rant is the last place to bring anything encouraging about LSU sports...

Oh, boohoo. Is it really discouraging to not compare him to the greatest high school talent ever who's already had a top 10 all-time NBA career?

Typical negatigers!!!!!!

Spankum-He CAN'T go pro as the rules WILL NOT allow him too. You have to play at least ONE year of college before entering the draft, that is the rules. He would be a top 1-3 draft pick if the rules didn't apply this year.

DC4LSU-No one is getting ahead of themselves, Simmons does compare favorably to Lebron at THIS stage in BOTH players development. At the HIGH SCHOOL stage BOTH compare favorably. Is that so hard to comprehend????

As long as he is Carmelo I'm fine. That will get us a title.

Man this thread is full of assholes and Spankum doesn't know the rules. Is it really hard to figure out that he's not asking if Simmons is as good as Lebron right now?

Roscoe, I don't think it's such a bad question. While he may not be as good as James it is very exciting to be getting a player who has drawn the comparison and plays a similar style.

He'd likely be the #1 pick if he was allowed to enter the draft

His skill level is just as good as lebron was at this age if not better. I think his skill level is probably better. Athletically, lebron was better at this age.

Incorrect. Have to be one year removed from high school or if didn't graduate, one year removed from the time you would have graduated. A person could play in many places other than college basketball or not play at all.

applejack-the premise applied by spankum is that Simmons didn't want to go pro, i just cleared the matter up for him. I know you have to be one year removed from high school for college basketball, 3 years removed from high school for college football. But didn't feel the need to go in-depth with that.

That said, a lot of scouts and analysts have said he's the best non post player since a Lebron. He's that type of prospect.

This might have answered my question, which is, is Ben Simmons the best high school recruit since Lebron?

I heard he beat Kobe 1 on 1 when he was in his prime and Ben was only 4!

Holy shite. Did you just ask if a 19 year old is better than 1 of the greatest players in basketball history?

To meet this comparison, he'll have to bulk up; but the closest player I'd compare him to at that age [or even as a freshman in college] is Magic Johnson. Wonderful passing vision. Could play point guard, shooting guard, small forward but even played either power forward or center in one NBA series when Kareem went down.
