This is the most sensible thing I've seen posted on this hire so far. I'm shocked by the ultra negative "welcome to LSU" reaction to Coach Steele. I am not unhappy with this hire and believe in time we may see this as one of CLM's better hires. If nothing else it is a poke in the eye with a Tiger stick to all the Bammers. Saban too. I think Kirby Smart was a smokescreen all along.

HC experience in a power conf. DC experience in a power conf. NFL experience. Hired by and coached under a couple of the greatest college coaches in history. Supposed to be a really strong recruiter. That's about all I know. Solid resume and experience. Combine that with the talent that lsu always has on D and I'm thinking lsu's D will be just fine.

All the things you mentioned are great until you get to his actual coaching performances and beyond who he has worked for and been hired by. We need to see what happens but hard not to think this was certainly a downgrade.

And Saban has more than one coach on his staff that isn't all that desired, but knows his system and therefore fits in. Bobby Williams is one example. Is he great because Saban retains him? That's what others ha drawn from Steele being on his staff.

WVU put up almost 500 yards passing on the best Chavis defense. Honey badger miracles bailed him out along w/ that KO return by clairborne

Oh, boo hoo. You poor life has been disrupted because someone hired a coach you don't personally accept. Boo hoo to all of you crybabies.

You cant do anything about it now. We are all going to be watching that 1st game and try to figure out if this may become a good hire. Sometimes things work well when there is a change. How surprised were you when the Saints D improved so much in Ryans 1st year? Of course the 2nd year was terrible.

So you've decided to patronize a fan, who like many, are very concerned with this hire? Mature...

What a ridiculous fricking strategy. This is the Rant. I've already ruined the drywall in my den and murdered my neighbor's dog.

Will be happy if the def improves next year as does our record. (if it does Chavis will get all credit from ranters tonight)

Any thing else is just jerking off to non existent women.

I am not sure, his time at Baylor was not great however, it was difficult at the time to coach, play and recruit against Texas. Saban hired him to coach and recruit for the defense.
