it's very much possible for us to make it. The 2 main things that need to happen are pretty good by themselves but for it all to happen, i say we have a 30% chance.
Ask yourself, who really would want to play Georgia right now? I know i don't. they have had 2 shutouts i think and thier offense has exploded. They are putting up high numbers on offense, and thier defense is just as good as any ones in the sec. Beating auburn just became a huge game for them. This is NOT the same georgia team that started the season.
Arkansas is the other obstacles, and although ole miss is not a gimmee i am really not worried about it. Arky could end up being the best team we have played all year. The good news is, we probably have the best secondary they have faced, and if our offense can get it going like i think they can, we will win.
If auburn gets beat by georgia, i expect bama to put a fork in them.
Imagine this place if auburn gets beat by georgia??? Right off the bat we will be higher ranked which is kind of weird.
And this has nothing to do with tcu or oregon. I think if the thinks happen like i think they could, we get in and possibly pass up tcu with a win in the seccg
Now Oregon could very likely lose another game. I have seen it to many times at the end of the year, the chosen team takes a tumble.
Could happen, and i like our chances.

Ultimately, if there is any wiggle room or the opponents are unclear, the media will manipulate who they want in the game. They did it FOR us in 2007, and they would not favor us this year.
In pre-BCS years, they had a real hard-on for a Florida-Florida State rematch for a national title, but Spurrier and Bowden were an interesting tv match up.
The one thing I notice during the BCS countdown show, is that the "analysts" do everything they can to steer clear of facts. They base their entire discussion around their feelings about who is better.
When discussing who the best 1-loss team is, they don't talk about the body of work--which clearly favors LSU.

possible yes
say Boise/TCU/Oregon/Wisconsin all lose
Computers will have LSU second easily. Polls may try something else but who? Ohio St? Stanford? Don't see it so it could happen but more voodoo needed than 2007 IMO

Yes, it is.
If Oregon, TCU, Boise, and Nebraska all lose than an AU vs. LSU matchup is possible.

quote:I was also thinking about this... If Oregon and Boise lose a regular season game and LSU keeps winning, LSU would move up to #3. Then, if Auburn losses the SECCG, I don't see how LSU would not be in the BCSCG. We would be coming off a road win over a ranked team and would likely be #1 or #2 in the computers and #2 or #3 in the human polls.
I think it could be very interesting if Oregon and Boise lose and LSU wins out and AU fails to win the SEC.
The more I think about it, Boise may not even need to lose. LSU may be able to jump them with another road win over a ranked team. The computers will reward that even if the humans don't.
The bottom line is this... sitting at #5 with 3 games to go is not a bad place to be. Anything can happen and as long as LSU keeps winning, they can play for a BCS championship without playing for the SEC. It has happened before and can happen again.

If oregon and TCU lose, it could happen. I think LSU will jump Boise if we win out. If TCU and Oregon lose AU and LSU could end up being 1 & 2.
But TCU aint losing, so it wont happen

Yes, but only if Boise and TCU lose and there's no 1-loss BCS conference champion.

no rules against it, but NOT A CHANCE
the humans will not let it...
the TV audience narrows considerably.. $$$$$$

I thought they changed the rule after OU lost their conference championship game in 2003 that a team had to win their league to play for the NC.

I'm pretty sure it's not possible.
Probable? No
Possible? Yes
If Oregon, Boise and TCU all lose and LSU and Auburn win out that means that Auburn will be ranked #1 and LSU will either be #3 or #2 in the human polls, the computers will do enough to put us #2 overall in the BCS and we would play Auburn in the national title game. The odds of this happening are .00001%....but it is possible.

No, remember Georgia throwing their hissyfit in 2007? Technically you don't have to win your league.

I remember but I thought that rule was the reason why they couldn't play. Any rules experts out there to shed some light on this?
